Bundaberg North State High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated educational leader to join our leadership team as Head of Department - Curriculum (with subject knowledge of at least one of these areas: Industrial Technology and Design, Information Technology, The Arts, Agriculture). Located on the north side of Bundaberg, our school proudly supports approximately 680 students, preparing them for diverse futures—whether in higher education, trades, or the workforce.This is a temporary full-time position commencing 22 January 2026 until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. You will find information on all the other aspects of school life that combine to make this a truly supportive learning community.About The RoleIn this pivotal role, you will lead the Industrial Technology & Design, Information Technology, The Arts and our emerging Agriculture faculty. We are looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who can ensure high-quality, consistent curriculum delivery across these practical, hands-on learning areas, while upholding essential Workplace Health and Safety standards. Subject Area Coordinator/s support the HOD across these broad subject areas.As a key member of our leadership team, you will:Drive curriculum innovation and excellence across your faculties.Foster strong, respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, carers, and industry partners.Provide real-world learning opportunities that connect students with future career pathways.Manage behaviour, academic and wellbeing support of a cohort of students as an integral member of a Year Level team.Contribute to whole-school leadership.Responsibilities include, but not limited to;Curriculum Leadership: Overseeing the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of curriculum across the Industrial Technology & Design, Information Technology, The Arts and Agriculture faculties.Workplace Health and Safety (WHS): Leading and ensuring compliance with WHS standards, particularly in relation to machinery use and safe work practices within these practical learning environments.The Ideal Candidate Will DemonstrateA sound understanding of the Australian Curriculum v9, with teaching experience in at least one of the relevant faculties.Experience delivering senior Applied Subjects and supporting students in vocational pathways.Strong knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements in a school context, particularly in hands-on learning areasProven ability to lead and develop teams, manage staff effectively, and foster a collaborative culture.Desirable Attributes IncludeFamiliarity with VET (Vocational Education and Training) delivery models, including partnerships with external providers or operation as a School RTO.Demonstrated capacity to support student behaviour and wellbeing beyond the classroom, contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How To ApplyPlease submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 2-pg response to the How you will be Assessed section of the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.Occupational group Education & Training
