Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Strong support from host communities and the government of Suriname strengthen Merian's ability to deliver safe, profitable production with significant upside potential and opportunity for employees, host communities and shareholders.DimensionsPurposeManages the procurement of physical goods, managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, and ensuring that all goods are delivered on time and within budget; supporting the site’s operational needs by maintaining a steady supply of materials and equipment.Essential DutiesAdminister and process purchase orders for goods required at the site, ensuring that orders are accurate, complete, and approved, monitor the status of purchase orders, ensuring that deliveries are made on time and in accordance with the site’s operational schedule, and solve any issues related to purchase orders, such as discrepancies in quantities, quality, or delivery timelines.Collaborate closely with the inventory team to ensure that purchased goods are aligned with current inventory levels and site needs and support in handling inventory levels by liaising with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.Liaise with suppliers to confirm orders, schedule delivery schedules, and solve any issues or changes in order requirements and assess opportunities to reduce costs through negotiation, bulk purchasing, or identifying alternative suppliers without compromising quality or delivery times.Adhere to that all purchasing activities comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and delivery receipts.Training & ExperienceKnowledgeBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Law, or related field required. Broad business knowledge and focus, ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities.  Deep understanding of sourcing professional services, strategic sourcing, negotiations, and contracts administration and management for services and goods in oil & gas, mining or environmental and/or engineering industries. A strong understanding of the legal principles governing contracts, especially in procurement and supply chain contexts. Familiarity with procurement strategies, sourcing methods, and supply chain management processes within a corporate environment. Knowledge of industry-specific standards, regulations, and compliance requirements that may affect contract management. Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial aspects of contracts, including pricing and payment structures. Knowledge of how to evaluate vendor performance, handle disputes, and manage contractor relationships. Specialized skills and knowledge in risk management, environmental regulations, and local stakeholder management, while maintaining flexibility and adaptability in contract structuring. Experience in sourcing professional services, strategic sourcing, negotiations, and contracts administration and management for services and goods in oil & gas, mining or environmental and/or engineering industries.Experience in contract management, procurement, or a similar role, preferably within a large corporate or industrial environment. Familiarity with contract management software and SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
