Passive Safety Management

Position OverviewWe are looking for a highly experienced Passive Safety Engineering Manager to lead the development, integration, and validation of passive safety systems across global vehicle programs. This role oversees occupant protection strategies, crashworthiness, and regulatory compliance while coordinating cross-functional activities from concept to homologation. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in passive safety engineering with strong project leadership, cross-regional collaboration, and supplier management experience.Key Responsibilities 2. Program, Supplier & Budget Management Passive Safety Strategy & Target Definition Define passive safety performance targets for occupant protection, crashworthiness, and regulatory/homologation requirements (FMVSS, ECE, C-NCAP, ASEAN NCAP, etc.). Establish technical roadmap and safety performance benchmarks for current and future programs (ICE & BEV platforms). Oversee integration of restraint systems (airbags, seatbelts, pre-tensioners) and body structure designs to meet safety targets. Guide safety-critical packaging and design across multiple vehicle zones (frontal, side, rear, rollover). Collaborate with interior, BiW, chassis, electrical, and system engineering teams to achieve optimal structural and occupant safety performance. Lead both virtual (CAE) and physical (sled & full vehicle) development and testing: Manage crash simulation using tools like LS-Dyna, MADYMO, PAM-CRASH . Supervise physical crash test planning and execution for regulatory and consumer ratings. Analyze crash data, lead root cause analysis, and drive design improvements. Ensure vehicle compliance with passive safety-related global regulations and support homologation documentation and process. Work with certification bodies and testing agencies to deliver market approvals on time. Coordinate DVPs and test plans with internal teams and global suppliers. Manage suppliers for airbags, seatbelts, and crash test execution; review APQP documents (DFMEA, DVPR, control plan). Track cost, quality, and timing; report project status and risks to senior management. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering. 8–15 years of experience in Passive Safety Engineering with a mix of OEM and/or Tier-1 experience. Proven track record of delivering passive safety performance in global programs across multiple vehicle types. Strong knowledge of restraint systems , body crash structure , safety CAE , and homologation standards . Hands-on experience with crash simulations (LS-Dyna, PAM-CRASH, MADYMO), 3D CAD (CATIA V5 / Creo), and PLM tools (e.g., Teamcenter). Excellent cross-functional leadership, supplier management, and program execution skills.
