Job Description SummarySystems engineering is a cross-functional engineering discipline centered on an approach, mindset, and process. All activities that consider both the business and the technical needs of the customers with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the users needs. The discipline that executes a robust process of design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Process that proceeds from concept to production to operation.Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesDesign and Engineering of Substation (Secondary) Protection and Automation projects per customers’ specification and requirements as technical lead. Responsible for protection panel design review, protection study, configuration of protection IEDs, FAT/SAT testing and site commissioning.Work closely with Engineering Manager and Project Manager for project execution plan and timely completion of projects.Analyze feasibility of offered solutions during design study and reviews, identify opportunities or improvement changes to improve design, performance, and quality standards.Able to troubleshoot, analyze and resolve complex issues at site. Provide necessary technical details and improvement recommendations to R&D for software improvement or issues fix on IEDs. Collaborate with other engineering teams and contractors as a technical expert for substation protection and automation for coordinated execution of turnkey projects.Maintain traceable records (Technical Notes) of the basis for any Electrical – Protection & Automation design decisions based on specifications and standards.Support Services for Protection & Automation installed base in the region – On site support for extension scopes, troubleshoot, product firmware/software upgrades etc.Establish and maintain good customer relation with both existing and new customers in the region.Provide technical expert support for Grid Automation sales and tenderingQualifications/RequirementsDegree in Engineering (Electrical) with more than 5 years of experience in HV Substation Protection & Automation engineering and project execution in East Asia Pacific regionExpert level knowledge in Protection application, settings calculation and testing & commissioning of HV Substation protection (Line Differential/Distance, Transformer Differential, HV Busbar Differential, Breaker failure, OC/EF, Generator and Motor protections etc.)Experienced in Digital Substation projects – Protection design in DSS system network Station and Process Bus, IEC61850-9-2 LE Sampled Values, Goose matrix, testing and commissioning.Knowledge in communication protocols – IEC61850, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC101/104, IEC103Experienced in IEDs, RTUs and Systems integration in IEC61850 communication protocolExperienced in GE Vernova Grid Automation MiCOM / UR range protection IEDs, and ABB, Siemens, SEL range IEDsAble to travel extensively for factory/site testing activitiesAble to work under pressure and meet deadlinesAdditional InformationRelocation Assistance Provided: No
