Senior R&D & Innovation Chemist

About the Role:We are on the hunt for a Senior R&D & Innovation Chemist who will be responsible for researching, formulating and developing breakthrough product innovation. The role is underpinned by the combination of scientific expertise and creativity and is responsible for delivering innovation. This is a full time role based in our Global Hub in Gladesville with parking available on site.Key Responsibilities:Conduct research into skin biology, active ingredients, and emerging skincare technologies to inform new product ranges and concepts.Collaborate with Marketing and the Head of R&D to support the development of the long range (3 year) consumer-led NPD funnel.Oversee and actively support the end-to-end R&D process including innovation, formulation, testing and clinical validation.Be a collaborative partner with Marketing and other departments, to deliver a world class Innovation process at each stage of the NPD design and execution, including ideation, claims development and commercial considerations.Stay current with trends in dermatological science, cosmetic chemistry, and consumer skincare preferences.Develop and provide scientific papers for Product Scientific Data, Claims Dossiers and prepare scientific publications.Ensure all claims are backed by robust clinical or scientific data and are communicated ethically.Ensure all products comply with regional and international regulatory requirements across ANZ and global markets as required.Develop and maintain product information files, safety assessments, claims substantiation, and technical documentation.Demonstrate awareness of laboratory safety, workplace health and safety protocols and ensures compliance through own time in lab and also in support for junior chemists.Cultivate strong partnerships with ingredient suppliers, and research experts.Skills and Experience:Master’s or PhD degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field5+ years’ experience in cosmeceutical product development, with a focus on clinical/medical-grade products.Proven experience designing and validating skincare products with clinical backing.In-depth knowledge of dermatology, skin biology, cosmeceuticals, and active ingredients.Strong familiarity with global cosmeceutical trends, regulations, claims substantiation, and safety standards.Experience managing and conducting clinical trials.Excellent analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.Strong collaboration and communication skills across R&D and commercial teams.Based in a laboratory and office environment, with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities, industry partners, and ingredient suppliers.What's on OfferExtensive and ongoing professional development.Awesome product allowances and staff discounts.Amazing and supportive team culture.Hybrid working arrangements – 4 days onsite and 1 day from home.About the Company:We are Ultraceuticals, a leading Australian professional skincare brand founded in 1998 by Dr Geoffrey Heber.
