Solutions Architect

About The RoleWe are seeking a Solutions Architect with a strong development background to shape, design, and support the delivery of our next-generation Freight industry platform. This platform will be used by Freight Forwarders to manage and optimise their operations.The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with architectural vision, capable of working across front-end, back-end, and cloud layers to design scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.You will work closely with the Technical Lead and development teams, ensuring that business requirements are translated into clear, robust technical designs. This role is hands-on: you’ll contribute to architecture, guide technical execution, and support active development where needed.Key ResponsibilitiesSolution Architecture & DesignDefine, design, and document scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions within AWS cloud environments.Translate business and functional requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation roadmaps.Architect and oversee solutions involving Node.js, Angular, IBM MQ, PostgreSQL, APIs, and microservices.Establish and enforce architectural standards, coding guidelines, and integration patterns across the platform.Evaluate technology choices and ensure alignment with long-term platform strategy.Technical Leadership & CollaborationWork closely with the Technical Lead to ensure seamless execution of architecture into the build.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to front-end and back-end teams, supporting them in delivering complex features.Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions to ensure design integrity throughout delivery.Collaborate with stakeholders and product teams to understand business needs and align solutions accordingly.Hands-on Development & OversightContribute to development activities where necessary to support complex integrations or critical architectural components.Design and guide implementation of API integrations, microservices, and messaging patterns using IBM MQ.Ensure front-end and back-end components are integrated effectively, with Angular for UI and Node.js for backend services.Oversee database design and optimisation in PostgreSQL.Platform Ownership & EvolutionTake a platform-wide view, understanding and designing how each component fits together across infrastructure, integrations, and services.Ensure solutions are designed for scalability, resilience, and security to support Freight industry operational demands.Keep up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to maintain a modern, future-proof architecture.Required Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Solutions Architect, Senior Developer, or Technical Architect in enterprise-grade environments.Strong development expertise in: Back-end: Node.js, IBM MQ, RESTful API design and integration, microservices Front-end: Angular (latest versions preferred) Database: PostgreSQL (schema design, optimisation, migrations) Cloud: AWS services for hosting, scaling, monitoring, and integrating microservicesDeep understanding of cloud-native architecture, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes desirable), and serverless patterns.Experience designing and implementing event-driven or messaging architectures.Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to bridge business and technical discussions.Experience working in or designing solutions for the Freight / Logistics industry is advantageous but not essential.
