About BioPilotBioPilot is a stem-cell and cell-therapy research platform. We standardize experiment planning with fixed ontologies, tie data to chain-of-identity, and power analysis pipelines (FACS auto-gating, scRNA-seq, imaging, Bayesian optimization). Fast, auditable, and built for real-world labs.The roleYou will co-own architecture and ship the product end-to-end. Expect hands-on building in FastAPI and PostgreSQL, ontology design for experiments and inventory, and pragmatic JavaScript for the front end. You will work directly with early design partners in Copenhagen and help set engineering standards, security, and data quality from day one.What we will doDesign and build core APIs in FastAPI with Pydantic models and validation.Own PostgreSQL schema design (including ontology-backed tables for experiments, inventory, and chain-of-identity).Model and extend our ontology for cell therapy workflows, instruments, cell lines, stages, species, processes, and compounds.Implement web-scraping pipelines to enrich the ontology (vendors, instruments, cell lines, protocols).Build lightweight JavaScript front ends that integrate with our FastAPI backend.Ship secure, observable services (logging, metrics, tracing) and automate tests and CI/CD.Work closely with users on differentiation, expansion, cryopreservation, and in-vivo modules to turn messy workflows into structured data.EssentialsBased in the Copenhagen Capital Region.Pharmaceutical or biotech industry experienceHands-on with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Pydantic (v1 or v2), JavaScript (framework-agnostic OK), and web scraping.Proven ontology modeling experience (schema/DDL design, controlled vocabularies; bonus if OWL/OBO familiarity).Background that spans biology → bioinformatics → data engineering or very close to it.Cloud engineering (AWS/GCP/Azure), Docker, Traefik, CI/CD.Bonus skillsCyber security fundamentals (threat modeling, secrets, least privilege, SBOM).Bioinformatics experience (FACS data structures, scRNA-seq workflows, image analysis).RoboticsStrong grasp of cell-therapy processes and data flows across in-vitro and in-vivo work.What success looks like in 90 daysProduction-ready FastAPI services with clean Pydantic models and auth.A normalized PostgreSQL schema aligned to our ontology (experiments, inventory, processes).Working ingestion for ontology enrichment via scraping.A usable experiment planner UI and at least one shipped analysis tool.What we offerCo-founder title with meaningful ownership.Direct influence on product, roadmap, and engineering culture.Access to real users and real data.Pace and autonomy.
