Technical Lead - Regional Digital Team

Responsibilities• Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the Sri Lanka development team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to developers. Collaborate with the UK Lead Developer to align team goals and objectives.• Development skills: Design, develop and maintain responsive web applications using Umbraco/Sitecore CMS or Standalone apps, HTML, C#, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks such as REACT & Angular. Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement design specifications accurately.• Future Planning: Keeping up with industry trends. Research and evaluate new technologies recommending their adoption when appropriate.• Coding Best Practices: Ensure all developers adhere to coding best practices and standards. Promote clean, efficient, and maintainable code across all projects. Conduct code reviews and provide guidance to improve code quality.• Agile Methodologies: Champion Agile best practices and ensure the team follows the documented standards and guidelines. Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprintplanning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of Agile practices.• Security and Technical Backlog Management: Be accountable for managing security-related technical backlog items. Ensure all software development activities comply with security standards and protocols. Work closely with the security team to address vulnerabilities and implement security enhancements.• Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary point of contact between the Sri Lanka team and the UK Lead Developer. Provide regular updates on team performance, project progress and any challenges faced. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between Sri Lanka and UK teams.Skills and Experience • Proven experience in a lead developer role, preferably in an offshore setting.• Strong understanding of digital products and websites, frontend & backend coding, coding best practices, agile methodologies, and security standards.• Strong understanding of web development best practices, including SEO and access sibility.• Experience working with and developing for any Content Management Systems• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.• Knowledge of working in an Agile development environment is desirable, with experience in composing and documenting user stories and acceptance criteria.• Experience working in insurance or finance is desirable.• Prior experience with design systems and component libraries is highly desirable.• Prior experience with CMS platforms in particular Sitecore, Umbraco and/or SharePoint is highly desirable.• Prior experience with BEM framework, version control systems, CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.• Familiarity with observability practices and their critical role in maintaining highly available and performant systems• Knowledge of usability testing is highly preferred.• Use of AI Tooling for development.• Passionate about community building and knowledge sharing on all areas of development within the organization.
