As a faith- and values-based organization, we hire and serve people of all backgrounds and walks of life - there is a place for everyone to belong here.Mission StatementThe Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world.Job DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:This position provides pickup and/or delivery services to and from donors, clients, and otherCommunity agencies through application of safe driving and material handling procedures.AccountabilitiesThe incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic or typical of theJob ClassEnsures the safe and careful handling of all pickups and deliveries using an assigned Salvation Army vehicle in a timely and secure manner.Prepare and deliver all goods to various satellite agencies inclusive of warehouse.Protect the integrity of all donated items i.e. food, toys, general merchandiseValue the relationship with project partners, funders, donors and othersInteract with customers/donors in a positive, friendly and courteous mannerLoad and remove waste of the designated dumping siteEnsure the vehicle is properly maintained and to advise the Manager of any need for service or repair.Ensure safety both on the road and at the various points of pickupsEnsure that UNAUTHORIZED persons DO NOT ride in the vehicleEnsure the warehouse remains presentable at all times.Return the warehouse and general distribution area to their former stateBe punctual and of good deportment – dress must reflect the values of The Salvation Army.Communicate regularly with staff and the Manager-in particular, whereabouts concerns etc.Performs other duties as assignedManagerial/Technical Leadership ResponsibilityReports directly to: The Corps Officer or Operations Supervisor, with the ability to work with minimal Supervision.WORKING CONDITIONSThis is a temp full time positionWorking environment is typically in a program vehicle or storage/warehouseThe worker is required to drive at least 70% of the time.Regular local travel in and around the XX and surrounding areas will be required.Some scheduled overtime may be required, particularly during the Christmas season.The performance of the job requires frequent safety awareness, concentration when driving and maneuvering cargo, use of fine motor skills, and moderate attention when reading equipment manuals (for safe operating instructions)The performance of the job requires a frequent amount of sitting for extended periods of time, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting and kneeling.Required to regularly lift up to 39 pounds with no assistance from others.Education, Qualifications And CertificationsThe successful job applicant will have a Hight School diplomaCurrent Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.Must have a driver’s licenseNOTE: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.Skills And Capabilities (examples Provided Below)Demonstrated safe driving practices.Strong navigation skillsStrong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balance sense of fairness and flexibilityGood interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skillsAble to work independently and as part of a team.Hourly Rate: $18.00 Hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00am to 4:00pmOFF DURING PUBLIC HOLIDAYSCompensationThe target hiring range for this position is BD$17.67 to BD$22.09 with a maximum of BD$26.51.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
