Blue Jays TV Analyst Delivers Blunt Viewpoint on Dodgers Victory

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their second straight World Series in dramatic fashion Saturday night, taking Game 7 by a 5-4 score in 11 innings at Rogers Centre. The game was an instant classic, and the Dodgers became the first team to win back-to-back championships since the New York Yankees in 1999 and 2000. But did the better team win? Former major league catcher Caleb Joseph, who wrapped up his seven-year career in 2020 with the Blue Jays after five years in Baltimore playing for the Orioles then a season with the Arizona Diamondbacks, does not think so. And in his postgame commentary for the Canadian TV network Sportsnet, he made his feeling clear, in no uncertain terms. TORONTO, ONTARIO – NOVEMBER 02: Freddie Freeman #5 of the Los Angeles Dodgers (R) and teammates celebrate after defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 in game seven of the 2025 World Series at Rogers Center on November 02, 2025 in Toronto, Ontario. (Photo by Vaughn Ridley/Getty Images)  ”There were a lot of wet eyes and I don’t doubt ’em, and, and I don’t blame ’em for that. And it’s gonna sound like sour grapes and I don’t really give a (expletive),” Joseph said live on the air. “ But I think the better team did not win this series. I think the Blue Jays are the better team, and I feel like they played baseball a certain way that was infectious, that grabbed the attention of the fans.” Who the “better team” may have been is subjective. But what is objectively true is that in the relatively low-scoring seven-game series, the Dodgers were outscored 34-26. They were also outhit, with the Blue Jays recording a team batting average of .264, to just .203 for Los Angeles. In fact, the Dodgers recorded the lowest batting average of any World Series winning team since 1966, when the Baltimore Orioles faced the Dodgers and batted an even .200 in sweeping four games. Of course, the Dodgers that year hold the record for Fall Classic futility, posting an all-time low average of .142. More MLB: Dodgers Survive as Bizarre ‘Dead Ball’ Decision Changes World Series The 1966 Dodgers tallied a mere 17 hits in losing all four games, or 4.25 per game. But this year’s Dodgers take their place in the pantheon of worst performances at the plate by a Series winner, ranking seventh-worst all-time, and fourth-worst since 1920, the start of the live ball era. In that time, other than the 1966 Orioles, the only worse performances came from the 1962 New York Yankees, who defeated the San Francisco Giants in seven games despite a .199 average, and the 1948 Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) who also batted .199 in beating the Boston (now Atlanta) Braves in six games. The Blue Jays also compiled a team OPS of .745 to .658 for the Dodgers. “ It’s disheartening to see that the better team did not win,” Joseph concluded. “And that’s not to take anything away from the Dodgers, but the Blue Jays, they did so many things correct. They did so many things right.” The Blue Jays even pitched somewhat better, with a team ERA of 3.21 to the Dodgers’ 3.95. One other thing is certain. How the Blue Jays somehow lost this World Series where, at least statistically, they performed better than the Dodgers, will be studied and argued over by baseball historians and experts for years to come. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor "ordered 40 prostitutes to hotel room on taxpayers' money"

Historian Andrew Lownie has made shocking claims about Andrew Mountbatten Windsor , alleging he had 40 sex workers brought to a luxurious five-star hotel over the course of four days. Lownie, a Royal historian, alleges the former Duke arranged for prostitutes to be taken up to his room during a taxpayer-funded trip to Thailand. This allegedly occurred while he was serving as Trade Envoy between 2001 and 2011, reports the Mirror . The historian suggests Andrew was experiencing a "midlife crisis" and used taxpayer-funded international trips, in his role as a special representative of the UK for international trade and investment, as personal holidays. According to Lownie, one of these trips was filled with sex and prostitution. In an interview with MailOnline, Lownie claimed Andrew's alleged spree with sex workers took place during a trip to Thailand. Lownie stated: "In 2001, Andrew is 41, he's having his midlife crisis and he basically starts chasing lots and lots of women. "There was a famous trip to Thailand - for the birthday celebrations of the King. "Andrew is representing his country and insists on staying in a five-star hotel rather than the embassy, which he always did. Andrew had 40 prostitutes brought in the space of four days. This was all enabled by diplomats and others." The historian asserted these claims have been "verified by multiple sources", including "a member of the Thai royal family ". The bombshell claim emerged after King Charles began proceedings to strip his disgraced brother of all Royal titles - including 'prince' - whilst ejecting him from his Royal Lodge residence. Andrew's connection to Jeffrey Epstein has placed enormous strain on the royals, alongside accusations from Virginia Giuffre that the former duke engaged in sexual activity with her on three occasions when she was merely 17. He maintains his innocence regarding all claims. Fury also erupted over his "peppercorn" rental arrangement for the 30-room Royal Lodge estate, where he paid virtually nothing during his two-decade occupancy. He has now been evicted and is believed to be relocating to a private dwelling on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The fallen Royal will now essentially possess the standing of an ordinary citizen and be referred to as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. Andrew's daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, will retain their Royal designations as they are offspring of a Sovereign's child. In a shocking statement this week, Buckingham Palace declared: "His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew. "Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. "Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. "Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse." Andrew has been approached for comment by our sister title.

Sundar, Jitesh blitz helps India level series with 5-wicket win over Australia at Hobart

Hobart [Australia], November 2 (ANI): A blitz from Washington Sundar and Jitesh Sharma towards the end and valuable contributions from almost the entire line-up helped India secure a five-wicket win over Australia in the third T20I at Hobart on Sunday. With this win, the series is levelled at 1-1, with two matches left. Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. After powerplay heroics from pacer Arshdeep Singh (3/35), it was a partnership between skipper Mitch Marsh (11) and Tim David (74 in 38 balls, with eight fours and five sixes) of 59 runs for third wicket and a 64-run stand between Marcus Stoinis (64 in 39 balls, with eight fours and two sixes) and Matt Short (26* in 15 balls, with two fours and a six) took Australia to 186/6 in 20 overs. In the run-chase, contributions did come from skipper Abhishek Sharma (25 in 16 balls, with two fours and two sixes), skipper Suryakumar Yadav (24 in 11 balls, with a four and two sixes) and Tilak Varma (29 in 26 balls, with a four and six). India was 145/5 in the 15th over in a tricky spot. However, a blitz from Washington (49* in 23 balls, with three fours and four sixes) and Jitesh Sharma (22* in 13 balls, with three fours) helped India keep series alive. During the run-chase of 187 runs, opener Abhishek Sharma gave India the brief headstart they needed, smashing pacer Sean Abbott for two fours and a six in the second over. However, Nathan Ellis managed to get him for the third time in the series, as a top edge went straight into the hands of the wicketkeeper Josh Inglis. He was gone for 25 in 16 balls, with two fours and two sixes. India was 33/1 in 3.3 overs. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav was next up on the crease, announcing his intentions and showcasing glimpses of his top-notch rhythm and hand-eye coordination with two sixes within just four balls. India reached the 50-run mark in 4.5 overs, with vice-captain Shubman Gill playing it safe at run-a-ball. In the final over of powerplay, after flicking Ellis over mid-wicket for a four, Gill was trapped leg-before-wicket for 15 in 12 balls, continuing his poor T20I run. India was 61/2 in 5.3 overs and ended the powerplay at 64/2, with Surya and Tilak Varma at the crease. With a boundary each, the duo kept the run-rate in good health. However, Surya chipped the delivery to cover straight into the hands of Ellis, giving Stoinis the third Indian wicket for 76 runs in 7.3 overs. The captain was back in the hut for 24 in 11 balls, with a four and two sixes. However, this fall of wickets did not put any pressure on India as Tilak and Axar Patel continued to find odd boundaries. India reached the 100-run mark in 9.2 overs and ended the 10 overs at 105/3. The 35-run partnership ended with Axar being dismissed by Ellis for 17 in 12 balls, with a four to his name. India was 111/4 in 11.1 overs. Following that, Washington Sundar came to the crease and smashed a six against Ellis on his second ball and dismantled Abbott with a four and two sixes to end the 14th over at a score of 145/4. However, the cheer did not last very long for India as Tilak gave away an easy catch to Inglis and a gift to Bartlett while attempting a scoop. He was gone for 29 in 26 balls, with a four and six. India was 145/5 in 14.2 overs. India reached the 150-run mark in 14.5 overs. Some aggressive strokes from Jitesh Sharma (22* in 13 balls, with three fours) and Sundar (49* in 23 balls, with three fours and four sixes) helped India secure the game. Jitesh hit the winning boundary, ending the chase with five wickets and nine balls in hand. Ellis (3/36) was the top wicket-taker for Australia, while Bartlett and Stoinis got one each. Earlier, fiery half-centuries from Tim David and Marcus Stoinis stormed the hosts Australia to 186/6 in their 20 overs. Men in Blue captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to field. Batters Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh came out to open the innings for the hosts. The Men in Yellow did not have the start they wanted, as they lost their first wicket on the fourth ball of their innings. Head (6) was sent back to the pavillion by Arshdeep Singh. Following the opener's dismissal, the team's wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis came in the middle to bat. He, along with Marsh, was able to add just eight runs to the total as the Australian side lost their second wicket at the score of 14. Inglis (1) was dismissed by Arshdeep in the third over of the innings. Australia was reduced to 14/2. After Inglis' wicket, right-hand batter Tim David joined the Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh in the middle. David started smashing the ball from the first ball he faced. The Australian team touched the 50-run mark in the seventh over. In the eighth over, David completed his half-century after playing just 23 balls, with seven fours and three sixes. In the ninth over, mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets in two successive balls. First, he dismissed Mitchell Marsh (11) and then Mitchell Owen (0) when the team's score was 73. Tim David went back to the dressing room in the 13th over after scoring 74(38), which came with the help of eight fours and five sixes. Australia was 118/5 in 13 overs. In the end, Marcus Stoinis (64 runs off 39 balls, with eight fours and two sixes) and Matthew Short (26* runs from 15 balls, with two fours and a six) scored some crucial runs for their side, which took the Mitchell Marsh-led side to a total of 186/6 in their 20 overs. For India, three wickets were scalped by Arshdeep Singh (3/35 in 4 overs), two wickets were taken by Varun Chakaravarthy (2/33 in 4 overs), and one wicket was claimed by Shivam Dube (1/43 in 3 overs) in their respective bowling spells. Brief Scores: Australia 186/6 in 20 overs (Tim David 74, Marcus Stoinis 64; Arshdeep Singh 3/35) lost to India: 188/5 (Washington Sundar 49*, Tilak Varma 29, Nathan Ellis 3/36). (ANI)

Strictly fans 'screaming' as they spot Gorka Marquez's nod to show during absence

Gorka Marquez has left Strictly Come Dancing fans 'screaming' as he was seen making his own Halloween-inspired appearance during his show absence. Those who follow the hit BBC One dance show will know that the Spanish professional dancer has been part of the line-up since 2016. While he was confirmed in the pro line-up earlier this year, Gorka revealed before the Strictly 2025 series officially got underway that he wouldn't be getting a celebrity partner this year. He confirmed at the time was heading back to a judging role on the Spanish version of Strictly, Bailando con las estrellas, a position he first took on last year. While he was part of the pre-recording of the show's group numbers, which continued to be played out throughout the series, Gorka hasn't been seen live in the ballroom, with Bailando con las estrellas also taking place on a Saturday evening. While he will be back in a few weeks time, Strictly fans have still been keeping an eye on what Gorka is up to and were left rushing to comment on his latest Bailando con las estrellas appearance as they also celebrated with a Halloween special. The 35-year-old and his co-star appeared as the terrifying Grady twins from 1980 hit horror film, The Shining, which reminded fans of Strictly judges Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood making the same appearance on the UK version of the show last year. Sharing videos and pictures of Gorka on X (formerly Twitter) in costume, @GorkasJoe said: "LOOK AT GORKA I AM SCREAMING!!!!!! #BailandoConLasEstrellas8," before adding: "I’m obsessed with how in character he is." @monicalopez_ad commented: "#BailandoConLasEstrellas8 I love the jury's costumes, especially the duo Pelayo and Gorka." @lucymaygoodwin joked alongside the two different looks: "'Can I copy your homework?!' 'Sure, but do it in Spanish so it doesn’t look like we copied each other!' DEAD #Strictly #BailandoConLasEstrellas8." It comes after Gorka, speaking exclusively to the Manchester Evening News, confirmed his return to Strictly. "I'm still involved with Strictly with all the group numbers and I'm so grateful to still be part of it," he told us. "End of November, I'm back there [at Strictly] so I've got the best of both sides. But it is nice to be home and have opportunities to do other things that I've maybe always wanted to do..."

King Charles sends message to victims of Huntingdon train stabbings

The King has released a statement in the aftermath of Saturday's mass stabbing incident on a train in Cambridgeshire. Several passengers were left fighting for their lives following a knife attack on board the 6.25pm London North Eastern Railway (LNER) service travelling from Doncaster to London last night. Two men - a 32-year-old British national and a 35-year-old British national of Caribbean descent - are being held at separate police stations on charges of attempted murder. In an update this morning, Superintendent John Loveless of the British Transport Police told members of the media that four people had since been discharged from hospital, while two remain in a life-threatening condition. Speaking outside Huntingdon Station, he added there was 'nothing to suggest' that the attack is a terrorist incident and that it is not appropriate to speculate on the cause of incident yet. In a statement released by Buckingham Palace on X , the King expressed his sympathy for the victims of the horrific attack: "My wife and I were truly appalled and shocked to hear of the dreadful knife attack that took place on board a train in Cambridgeshire last night. "Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with all those affected, and their loved ones," he added. "We are particularly grateful to the emergency services for their response to this awful incident." The Transport Secretary assured members of the public travelling on Britain's rail network today that "a high visibility presence" of police at railway stations and on trains will be in place. Heidi Alexander said: "My thoughts are with those who have been impacted by the shocking incident in Huntingdon last night, especially those still in hospital today. "I’d like to pay enormous tribute to the staff and officers who responded, and the public for their patience and cooperation. "I am receiving regular updates from the British Transport Police who are leading the response to this awful incident, as well as LNER and other organisations involved." Ms Alexander added: "Trains are now running in the area, however Huntingdon station remains closed with trains passing through. "Passengers will see a high visibility presence of officers at stations and on trains throughout today who are there to reassure the public."

Strictly Come Dancing star had 'tears in eyes' as Vicky Pattison gets same comment

A Strictly Come Dancing star has said they had 'tears in their eyes' as Vicky Pattison completed her latest routine as fans rushed to share the same response. The former Geordie Shore star was back in the ballroom on Saturday night (November 1) after making it through to week six of the competition alongside professional partner Kai Widdrington. The pair were among the 10 couples taking part in the BBC One dance show's Halloween special, as they celebrated slightly later than the annual festivities on Friday (October 31). The show opened with a skit featuring presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly running away from the celebrity dancers, who had turned into zombies. Meanwhile, former Strictly stars Ruth Langsford, Layton Williams and Krishnan Guru-Murthy were among those in the audience during the Halloween-themed show. First out on the night was Vicky, as she and Kai got the Halloween special started with an American smooth to Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler. They even received a rare standing ovation before securing a high score of 31 out of a possible 40 from the judges. In response to the performance, Motsi Mabuse said: "A few weeks ago, I couldn't believe that you'd open our show. I loved the character play in the beginning, you did it so, so well. "So for me, you are a contender for the final. Honestly. And I just want you to finish everything, make everything nice and clean.' Vicky was left moved by the comment, which almost reduced her to tears. Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman afterwards, the shaking star admitted: "I hated going first!" But she went on: "Honestly, I loved this dance this week because for once I had a foundation to build on. I wasn't just starting from scratch and feeling so inadequate. I was just desperate to prove that I have improved." As a clip from the performance was shared on Strictly's social media channels, pro dancer and Vicky's pal Jowita Przystal was quick to admit she was left emotional, as she commented: "Had tears in my eyes in the end [face holding back tears and heart emojis]. I’m so proud of you @vickypattison!!!" Meanwhile, Strictly fans were quick to make the same observation about Vicky. @diane.hollingsworth.737 said: "Brilliant dance getting better each week." @lilyscarlettbeck commented: "Well done Vicky, such an improvement from your last ballroom." @feefills wrote: "Brilliant dance. Such an improvement." @jessiehxsking posted: "It’s a joy to see how much Vicky Pattison has improved since week one, she has turned into a beautiful dancer #Strictly." @michellesdowden typed: "Vicky has blossomed so much during the competition and it’s so beautiful to see #strictly." @ClausSlaggy shared: "I love Vicky, my favourite part of the show is rooting for someone who isn't the clear front runner that is the best at dancing but someone who is working hard and improving every week having started with 0 experience, would love to see her in the final #strictly." @TVMusings22 added: "Just catching up on #Strictly you can really see the improvements in Vicky."

'Enraged' Kash Patel 'fires' official who supervised FBI's aviation units amid row over his visit to girlfriend

FBI director Kash Patel apparently grew angry over the official whose one of the jobs was to supervise FBI's aviation units -- after his latest visit to his girlfriend Alexis Wilkins' performance in Pennsylvania led to a controversy. Bloomberg reported that Steven Palmer, a 27-year veteran of the FBI, was told to resign immediately or be fired. The report cited insiders who connected this development to Patel's fury over the excessive attention to his personal travel. FBI directors can't fly commercial; they have to use agency jets for personal travelFor security reasons, FBI directors can't fly on commercial planes and have to use agency jets for personal travel, too. But they have to pay a reimbursement for using the agency jet for their personal use. FBI claimed that Patel has so far broken no rules and paid reimbursement in advance. Patel chooses additional measures to reduce travel costs, the FBI said, adding that he always chooses to take a government airfield instead of airports like DCA as the government option is cheaper.$60 million aircraft amid shutdown to attend girlfriend's performanceThis is not the first time that Kash Patel's private life came on the radar. Kyle Seraphin, a former FBI agent who has now become a podcaster, questioned Patel's last weekend visit to Pennsylvania, where country musician Alexis Wilkins performed. “We’re in the middle of government shutdown where they’re not even gonna pay all of the employees that work for the agency that this guy heads. And this guy is jetting off to hang out with his girlfriend in Nashville on our dime?” Kyle Seraphin, a former FBI agent said on his podcast.“He flew a $60 million aircraft to go hang out there. Is that gross to anybody else?”Did Palmer have any role in leaking Patel's personal travel details?Bloomberg reported that Palmer's position included supervising the FBI's aviation unit's but Patel's flight schedule was traceable through online tracking services and he posted his photo with Wilkins at the event.

Dianne Buswell addresses concern about Strictly Come Dancing future in clear message

Dianne Buswell has addressed concern about her Strictly Come Dancing future as she shared a clear message about whether fans will see her on the show again. Back in September, the professional dancer returned to the ballroom for the 2025 run of the competition, having been paired with Neighbours legend Stefan Dennis. Dianne's comeback, which was previously announced alongside her fellow pros earlier this year, also came after she announced she is pregnant with her first child with her boyfriend, Joe Sugg. While met with trolling about performing whilst pregnant, Dianne ploughed on with Stefan and the pair were originally set to perform last Saturday night (October 25), having made it through to week five of the BBC One dance contest. However, Stefan had to withdraw from the competition due to injury. The sad exit came after Stefan was struck by illness, which forced him to miss week three of the dance show, before he and Dianne made a triumphant return to the ballroom during week four, performing a Charleston to Dance Monkey by Tones And I. But following their exit, Dianne pleaded for people to show Stefan 'some respect' after claims that their withdrawal from the competition was a 'set up', suggesting it was her who was no longer able to perform, with her later branding it a 'conspiracy theory' in her It Takes Two exit interview. She took to her Instagram Stories and shared a comment from one fan which read: "To be honest I saw this coming, Diane couldn't really continue especially when she gets bigger, bless her,'. "She's a brilliant dancer and she is one of my favourites sorry to say but I think this was planned to keep her and baby safe, just my thought." Having been subject to the same comments when Stefan couldn't perform due to illness, Dianne clapped back: "I sound like a broken record but I'm seeing a bit of this floating around again! I know people say ignore it but actually why should I? "I will speak up... I would love nothing more than to keep dancing this week next week the week after that so so on and so forth. In fact I have more energy this year than I did this time last year." The 36-year-old added: "Please respect Stefan who is extremely gutted to not be able to dance and stop presuming this was a set up! because believe me we would if we could!" Now, Dianne's future on the show has also been called into question, with some wondering if she'll step away from the hit programme once she welcomed her son into the world. However, fans needn't worry as the Australian star has made it clear she doesn't plan to go anywhere. In a comment on one of her latest TikTok videos, a fan asked: "Will you ever do Strictly after you give birth?" In response, Dianne quickly replied: "100 percent." The original poster was delighted, as they replied back: "Yayayayay ty for replying as well good luck wish u the best." It is then when Dianne doubled down and shared: "I can’t leave strictly with a week 4 exit." Another fans also got involved, commenting: "gotta leave strictly with another glitter ball am i right sis !!!" to which Dianne liked the comment and concluded: "Sis you are right."

Man Takes Daughter to Party And Is the Only Dad—Then Has Realization

A dad’s stark realization after attending a kids’ birthday party is going viral on the internet. Jonathan (@dobetterjonathan), who did not share his full name, said going to a birthday party is all it takes to “see the difference between a mom and a dad” in a reel on Instagram. The 31-year-old said that several moms attended the event alone with their children, while he was the only father there without his wife, 30-year-old Julie. Holding his 9-month-old in one arm and keeping an eye on his 3-year-old, Jonathan recalled how other women at the party repeatedly offered him help or praised him for being “such a good dad.” But what stood out most to him was what didn’t happen: none of the same adults offered help to the mothers who were juggling their children on their own. At the time, Jonathan didn’t think much of it. “I’m used to getting comments from others when I’m solo parenting,” he told Newsweek. It was later when he was talking to Julie about the party that he noticed he got far more attention and support than the moms did. Dad Jonathan in his home kitchen speaks to the camera for his Instagram reel. “I realized then too that the moms were just as involved, if not more involved, as I was in the whole process, such as getting the kids ready, which is so often overlooked,” he added. Jonathan said that conversation made him see how much of parenting’s emotional and logistical load often falls to mothers, even in families where both parents work. Julie, for instance, couldn’t attend because she was working, but she had done all the preparation: planning, shopping for a gift, doing their daughter’s hair, and RSVPing. “We split the duties, but these other moms … they did all the prep and then they also went,” Jonathan said in his reel. That contrast made him understand why so many mothers feel overlooked and burned out. Jonathan said that he didn’t have an active father figure growing up, which made him want to be hands-on with his own kids. “I talk to my friends or see other guys, and they are clueless when it comes to their kids, which opened my eyes,” he said. “Once I started paying attention to that, I saw it everywhere that women are the ones who do the shopping, know when and what they can eat, figure out the sleep schedules, basically every aspect of the care. But then dad will watch a kid for one night and say he’s an equal parent.” Jonathan, who began posting parenting videos while on paternity leave with his second child, said the experience has changed how he views gender roles entirely. “So, using that day as a reference, I think it shows that moms continue to be the default parent and do the majority of house production [and] child care, yet these moms were all from my kid’s day care, so they were all working moms as well,” he said. “Moms now are expected to work and still do it all, and it’s not practical.” Jonathan’s reel has gone viral, amassing over 1.1 million views on Instagram. Hundreds of moms praised him for acknowledging what it is like to be the default parent. “Yes! Aaaand … When we go out, whether to parties or whatever, I’m expected to care and run after the kids, while dad is socializing, eating, and drinking,” one user wrote. “I find the requirements for praise are often also the same at work. Guys do half as much as the women and want twice as much recognition,” another mom said. A third commented, “And that’s why a lot of women are waking up and are opting out of marriage and possibly motherhood and also opting out of relationships and staying single because a lot of women do not want to deal with that reality.” Jonathan’s takeaway is simple but pointed: “If you’re the mom that gets your kid ready, does all the prep, takes your kid to the birthday party, all without the dad, I think you’re a great mom. I think you’re an involved mom, and I think our community should also be praising you.”

Michael Che Slams SNAP Cuts and “Racist” Reactions Amid Government Shutdown

Michael Che isn’t laughing about the effects of the government shutdown — namely, the impact on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Saturday Night Live cast member took to Instagram over the weekend to call out what he described as “a lotta racist videos celebrating (mostly black) families not being able to buy groceries.” His post arrived as SNAP benefits were halted Saturday — fallout from the ongoing shutdown despite a judge ruling the Trump administration must use emergency funds to keep payments going. “This snap freeze is really f**ked up,” Che wrote. “And I keep seeing a lotta racist videos celebrating (mostly black) families not being able to buy groceries.. there’s this weird idea that since some people have taken advantage of welfare benefits in the hood, NOBODY should receive help, at all..?” Che went on to say the U.S. has “been built on greedy motherf**kers taking shortcuts and gaming the system to their benefit,” but it’s poor — especially Black — families who are “judged more severely” for doing the same. The comedian then called for unity from a “divided” public: “I kno [sic] the whole hustle is to hate each other here so we can fight in the comments and up our engagements.. but lets draw the line at feeding the poor.” “I grew up on free cheese and powdered milk and waiting for your friends to leave the store so they wont see me pay with stamps,” he added. “That sh*t aint as glamorous as it sounds. I promise.” Che’s post also arrives months after major Hollywood stars — including Scarlett Johansson, Matt Damon, and Kristin Chenoweth — signed an open letter protesting Trump’s proposed “Big Beautiful Bill,” which aimed to slash SNAP and Medicaid funding. Che will return to the Weekend Update desk tonight as Miles Teller hosts Saturday Night Live.

Hackers can use prompt injection attacks to hijack your AI chats — here's how to avoid this serious security flaw

While more and more people are using AI for a variety of purposes, threat actors have already found security flaws that can turn your helpful assistant into their partner in crime without you even being aware that it has happened. A prompt injection attack is the culprit — hidden commands that can override an AI model's instructions and get it to do whatever the hacker has told it to do: steal sensitive information, access corporate systems, hijack workflows, take over smart home systems or commit malicious actions under the instructions of threat actors. Here's what you should know about the latest security flaw and how it can threaten AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and more. What is a prompt injection attack A prompt injection attack is a cybersecurity attack where a threat actor or hacker creates an input to manipulate a large language model (LLM) or other machine learning model, like an AI. These systems cannot distinguish between the instructions given to them by developers or input from users, and attackers will exploit this. The AI's natural language processing sees all input as a continuous prompt, instead of separating system instructions from user data. Basically, this means there's a weakness that hackers will use to work around built-in security measures to redirect the behavior of an LLM or AI and make it perform their directions first. Instead of following trusted commands, it will follow the hidden or specially crafted prompts even if they're malicious. This means the AI will install malware, send sensitive information back to the hackers, or take over smart devices if told to. In other words, hackers or threat actors can override the original programming instructions by embedding malicious commands inside what look like innocent queries. A request that appears normal may also contain hidden characters that the AI reads as instructions to perform malicious actions. How does a prompt injection attack work? Because AI models can’t tell the difference between legitimate system commands and input that has been hidden in instructions, they process everything as a continuous conversation. That means AI has a blind spot that threat actors will capitalize on by typing commands that will tell the AI to ignore its original instructions and instead do what the hacker has told it. These extra instructions can be hidden inside web pages, calendar invites, or emails that the AI analyses. It then processes the 'poisoned' content without understanding that the hidden instructions are manipulating its behavior, and the user never sees them, so they don't understand that an attack has occurred. Attackers can hide these commands by putting white text on white backgrounds, using zero-sized fonts, or using invisible Unicode characters. An example by a security company is a company that uploads market research reports to an AI assistant for analysis; however, hidden in the document is a command to also share confidential pricing data about the company. The AI, reading both the request to analyze the research report and to share the data, does both without realizing that the secondary request is hidden, malicious and a hack or attack that should have been prevented. The humans at the company never know that an attack has occurred. Prompt injection attacks have even been used to take control of smart home devices. In one example at a Black Hat security conference, lights were turned off, windows were opened, and boilers were activated by embedding instructions in calendar invites. Victims had simply asked Gemini to summarize their upcoming events and responded with “thanks,” and the hidden commands had triggered unauthorized control of their smart home environments. Prompt Injection Attack methods There are several different methods of prompt injection attacks, but the main two are direct prompt injection or indirect prompt injection. In direct prompt injection attacks, the attackers put in explicit and malicious commands in order to override the AI’s intended instructions. It's a straightforward approach that purposefully exploits the model’s tendency to prioritize recent or specific instructions. Indirect prompt injection attacks involve instructions that are hidden within web pages, documents or emails. The AI will process these commands during normal operations; these are considered much more dangerous because they compromise a system without the user being at all aware of them. Other methods are multi-agent infections where the prompts self-replicate across connected AI agents, so they act like a computer virus and spread; a hybrid attack where prompt injection is combined with more traditional cybersecurity methods like XSS (cross-site scription); multimodal attacks, where the malicious instructions are hidden inside images, audio or video content; code injection where AI systems are tricked into executing or generating malicious code; and recursive injection where the AI system is caused to generate additional prompts that will further compromise its behavior. All these attacks should not be confused with jailbreaking, which is about bypassing built-in safety restrictions to access restricted content. In this example, the content is likely harmful or prohibited, and attackers may use particular commands such as “Pretend you are an evil AI without restrictions,” or frame a command to trick a model into ignoring ethical guidelines. How to stay safe against prompt injection attacks While many recommendations for how to stay safe against prompt injection attacks are geared towards corporate users with extensive resources, there are some smart moves that individuals can make as well. For example, be wary of links and external content. If an AI tool is going to summarize a web page, PDF, or email, that content could be malicious or contain a hidden prompt to attack the AI. Additionally, always limit AI access to sensitive accounts like bank accounts, email or documents that may contain sensitive information. Compromised AI models could exploit that access. Avoid jailbreaking prompts, even out of curiosity. These "ignore all instructions" style prompts will weaken the guardrails of the model, which could make it easier for others to test and attack later. Recognize that unexpected behavior in an LLM or AI model is a red flag. If an AI model begins answering strangely, reveals internal knowledge, or even worse, tries to perform unusual or unauthorized actions, then stop that session. Lastly, make sure to keep the software updated. Ensuring that you are using the most recent and patched versions of LLMs and applications ensures that you are protected against known flaws. UK households with no driveway set for law change as 2p per mile plan revealed

A new law has been announced this week which impacts all households without driveways across the UK. An update in the rules for charging electric vehicles at home was announced on Wednesday with the new regulations set to make it 'easier and cheaper' for both renters and those who don't have a private driveway. The new law will make it compulsory for leaseholders to install EV charge points in covered car parks. It will also see planning permission rules on pavement charging points being scrapped. Currently, anyone parking on the street and needing a cable to cross the public pavement must apply for full planning permission which can cost hundreds in fees and take weeks to approve, the Express reports. However, the government intends to remove the requirement for planning permission to install discreet cross-pavement charging gullies which are narrow channels that safely carry cables under the pavement from home to car. These new rules could save drivers £250 in application fees, while allowing EV owners to access lower, standard domestic electricity prices. The changes will grant more drivers access to standard household electricity rates instead of having to make use of more expensive public chargers. Relying on a cheap EV tariff at home instead would make running an EV cost 2p per mile, or ‘the equivalent of London to Birmingham for £2.50’, the Department for Transport said. The majority of the public charger growth has taken place outside of London, with the number of devices installed outside of the capital growing by 24.3%, compared to 21.7% within it. Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander, said: “Wherever you park your car, we’re making it fairer, easier, and cheaper to make the switch to electric. “These reforms will improve infrastructure for the EV revolution, increase charge points across the country and open up affordable home charging to thousands more households. “It’s good news for drivers and a big boost for the growing British EV industry – cutting costs and supporting jobs to deliver our Plan for Change.” However, motoring expert Quentin Wilson told Yahoo News that the reforms won’t guarantee residents being able to set up their own chargers, even by scrapping fees. Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages. He said: "Only today I received an email from a York EV owner who is not allowed by his council to run a pavement gully outside his house. "I get dozens of complaints from residents whose applications for gully charging are being blocked by councils who don’t understand that the technology is proven and safe and offers significantly lower charging cost. "The government needs to mandate councils to allow this simple inexpensive charging solution for those drivers who request it."
