Partial results from Chile’s presidential election indicate that leftist former labour minister Jeannette Jara and far-right politician Jose Antonio Kast are headed for a runoff vote in December. With 52.39 percent of ballots tallied on Sunday evening, Jara — a 51-year-old communist candidate representing an eight-party coalition — led with 26.58 percent, followed by Kast on 24.32 percent, according to electoral authority Servel. The next-closest contender, ultra-right legislator Johannes Kaiser, conceded defeat. Campaigning was overshadowed by growing public anxiety over surging murders, kidnappings and extortion in what has long been one of Latin America’s safest countries. Rising crime has been widely attributed to foreign criminal groups, coinciding with a doubling of Chile’s migrant population since 2017. Migrants now make up 8.8 percent of the country’s residents. Jara has promised to expand the police force, lift banking secrecy rules to combat organised crime, and address cost-of-living pressures. Kast, frequently compared to United States President Donald Trump, has pledged to erect walls, fences and trenches along Chile’s border with Bolivia to block migrants arriving from poorer northern neighbours such as Venezuela. Despite leading in the first round, Jara faces a difficult path to a December 14 runoff victory, as the combined vote share of right-wing candidates is far higher than that of the left. Polls have consistently projected that Kast would defeat her in a head-to-head matchup. Jara’s tally fell short of pre-election forecasts, while Kast outperformed them. Pollsters had expected her to secure between 27 and 29 percent, compared with 20 to 22 percent for Kast. The election is being closely watched as a gauge of the broader fortunes of South America’s left, which has recently suffered setbacks in countries like Argentina and Bolivia.

If opposing teams can't find a way to slow Garrett down, he could claim the single-season sack record a lot sooner than Week 18. Of Garrett's 15 sacks, 10 have come in Cleveland's last three games. He had five sacks in the Browns' 32-12 loss to the New England Patriots on Oct. 26. There is a reason only two players since 1982 have managed to get to 22.5 sacks. It would not exactly be shocking if Garrett experienced a drought down the stretch and came up short, especially as more teams start using double- and triple-teams to slow him down. But if Garrett can get to a speedy quarterback like Jackson and drag him down four times in one game, Cleveland's future opponents had better adjust their game plans accordingly.

Denver is streaky on offense, New England is still young, and Daniel Jones of the Colts needs to continue proving himself. All three of those teams have missed the postseason more often than not over the last half-decade. The Bills, meanwhile, have been playing in big games for years now. It all starts with Allen. The reigning MVP is well on his way to being named the best player in the NFL yet again. The quarterback has 28 total touchdowns on the season, six of which came in their most recent win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is one of the best rushing quarterbacks ever, evidenced by the fact that he has 41 more career rushing touchdowns than 2018 draft class peer Lamar Jackson. Allen doesn’t have a clear-cut number one receiving option, but any of Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, or Khalil Shakir can have a big game. Tyrell Shavers even had a great performance, which included 90 yards and a score against Tampa Bay. James Cook has also developed into one of the best running backs in the league. Coming into Week 11, Buffalo ranked second in total yards per game (384.4). This is the year that the Bills could break through and reach the Super Bowl. There are a lot of question marks surrounding the other AFC teams, but winning the Super Bowl won’t be easy because of the talent in the NFC. The defending champion Philadelphia Eagles are still elite, as are the Detroit Lions, Seattle Seahawks, and Los Angeles Rams. The Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers can all be threats if the stars align, too. The Bills’ offense may carry them to heights that the franchise hasn’t been to in decades, but it is far from a forgone conclusion that the team will win the Super Bowl.

Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase fires back at Jalen Ramsey’s spitting allegation

The Pittsburgh Steelers were looking to secure their position in first place in the AFC North and they were also looking for revenge against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers were successful in both ventures as they earned a 34-12 victory over their long-time but troubled rivals. The Bengals fell to 3-7 with the defeat, while the Steelers are 6-4. After the game, Bengals superstar wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase defended himself from charges that he spit at Jalen Ramsey of the Steelers. “I never opened my mouth to that guy … I didn’t spit on nobody,” Chase said with defiance. Ramsey and Chase were exchanging in trash talk throughout most of the game. They were both flagged for unsportsmanlike penalties while the Bengals were driving in the fourth quarter. The two men continued to go after each other after the penalty was called, and that’s when Ramsey said the Bengals receiver spit in his direction. While the referees did not see anything that fit that description, there was some video evidence that gave some credibility to Ramsey’s accusation. Ramsey eventually threw a punch at Chase and was thrown out of the game. “I’m sure the NFL, they’ll do their due diligence,” Ramsey said. “They got a hundred cameras out there. They can investigate. They can see everything, I just told y’all, it’s facts.” Steelers had strong defensive effort against Joe Flacco The Steelers lost their first meeting with the Bengals, dropping a 33-31 decision. Joe Flacco threw for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns in that game. The Bengals offense was unable to match that effort in this meeting. Flacco was held to 199 yards and 1 touchdown this time around. Mason Rudolph stepped in at quarterback for the Steelers in place of Aaron Rodgers, who left the game after injuring his left wrist. Rudolph completed 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards with 1 touchdown. Rodgers completed 9 of 15 passes for 116 yards and 1 touchdown before he suffered his injury.
