The opportunitySaab Australia is an industry participant in the Combat Systems Integration – Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) Collaboration Agreement (CSI-IPT CCA). The CSI-IPT CCA forms a collaborative enterprise organisation to execute scopes of work across Hobart Class Destroyer (SEA4000 Phase 6 and other related Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE) upgrades) and the Hunter Class Frigates (HCFs - SEA5000 Phase 1). This will see independently executed programs such as SEA4000 Phase 6 and SEA5000 Phase 1 brought under one umbrella enterprise organisation, the CSI-IPT.The CSI-IPT will be built up with personnel from three industry participants and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) to form a collaborative team working across multiple programs to leverage synergies between platforms.The roleWorking as part of the DDG Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team, the Combat Systems Engineer will mainly contribute to the development of the guided-missile destroyer (DDG) requirements baseline and the successful delivery of updated DDG specifications in support of upgrades to the DDG Combat System.Further responsibilities include contributing to architecture development and design coordination activities, as well as contributing to the development of the DDG CS Verification program.Further, the successful candidate will:Contribute to and execute Combat System (CS) Systems Engineering activities that support requirements analysis, architecture definition and development of subsystems and associated components in preparation for integration, test and trials/evaluationDevelop, maintain and update system functional and non-functional requirements and design artefactsPrepare for and support the execution of major program milestones such as design reviews, test readiness and system readiness reviewsDevelop, prosecute and support the implementation of approved engineering changesInteract with specialty engineering disciplines, including but not limited to: Safety; Human Factors; Cyber; Topside and ILS for the purposes of achieving design assurance and holistic system compliance.Flexible work arrangements including a 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.About YouYour skills and experience will include:Past exposure in the integration, test and evaluation of CS Products or equivalent complex military systemsSubstantial experience with combat system requirements within a maritime contextSubstantial experience across the systems engineering lifecycle, methods, tools (DOORS and Rational Publishing Engine) and techniquesSubstantial experience in the design and development of military systems, including utilisation of GFX and COTS componentsWorking in an engineering project multi-disciplinary environmentSubstantial experience partnering with internal and external stakeholders to achieve common goalsWorking knowledge/demonstrable understanding in C4ISREW or Combat System Warfare Domains (i.e. Anti-Air Warfare, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Surface Warfare) (desirable)Well-developed report writing and verbal communication skillsStrong conceptual and analytical skills with a strong attention to detailAbility to follow through and investigate issues with a thorough, methodological approachA flexible and adaptable approachAn ability to work independently and as part of a professional team.Applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to at least NV1 or have the ability to gain one.
