We are committed to the ecologically sound and sustainable use of resources and strive to operate in a manner that minimises waste and protects the environment.The RoleWe're looking for a licensed Electrician who’s ready to take the next step into project engineering- or an experienced Electrical Project Engineer with strong trade foundations.In this role, you’ll apply your practical electrical knowledge to deliver capital projects across Australia and New Zealand. Using your hands-on experience and understanding of fixed plant environments, you’ll oversee new installations end-to-end, including investigation, budgeting, design input, drafting, equipment procurement, supervision of installation teams, and commissioning.This is a great opportunity for an electrician who wants to move into a more senior, project-focused role while still staying close to the tools and grounded in real-world electrical work.ResponsibilitiesManage and contribute to engineering projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and commissioning of new plant and equipment.Review plant, equipment, and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.Produce detailed project schedules, assign tasks to contractors, and oversee installation activities.Ensure compliance with Australian and New Zealand electrical standards, safety regulations, and Sims Metal Critical Risks.Collaborate with commissioning teams and operations to ensure smooth handover of assets.Maintain project documentation, drawings, and manuals within Sims Metal systems.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and material recovery.About YouQualified Electrician (unrestricted licence), or degree-qualified Electrical Engineer, or equivalent experience.Minimum 3 years of industrial site electrical experience, ideally with exposure to SCADA and PLC systems.Strong understanding of electrical design, installation, troubleshooting, and safety in fixed plant environments.Confident managing contractors, solving problems on the fly, and making informed decisions with minimal supervision.Excellent communication and stakeholder skills.Willing and able to travel across Australia and New Zealand when required.Why Join Us?
