Farm Manager

Our client, an emerging leader in the agricultural sector, is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven farm manager to oversee the mixed farming unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for the comprehensive management of a large-scale integrated farm operation, encompassing piggery, dairy and forage production, while ensuring high performance against strict Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and operational excellence. This pivotal role requires a strategic leader with deep technical expertise in livestock and crop management.Key Tasks And ResponsibilitiesOversee the daily operations across the livestock and crop production sectorsImplement and manage sustainable farming practices and maintain high animal welfare standardsOversee farrow-to-finish piggery (breeding, farrowing, weaning, and finishing)Manage a 400+ dairy herd (milking, calf rearing & heifer rearing)Coordinate feed formulation and supply for livestockMonitor livestock health and productivity, developing and executing breeding and nutrition plansHerd fertility & herd health management to ensure biosecurity, milk quality, and animal welfare standards are attainedDevelop and enforce safety and biosecurity measures on the farm.Supervise forage crop production from planning to harvesting, optimizing yield and quality for silage and hayKeep detailed records of farm operations, production costs, and support in overall profitability analysisStay updated with agricultural regulations and trends to ensure compliance and adopt innovative practicesManage stock and feed inventory among other farming suppliesSupervise and train farm staff, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulationsEnsure the team works to attain the provided KPI'sRequirementsBachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related fieldMust possess a certificate in artificial inseminationMinimum of 8 years experience in farm management, preferably in piggery, poultry, or crop productionMembership with Agricultural Institute of Zambia (AIZ) is preferredStrong knowledge of agricultural practices and sustainable farming techniquesProficient in financial management and record-keepingExceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to solve problems effectively and adapt to challenging situationsWillingness to work flexible hours and be on-call for emergenciesValid driver's license is essentialAbility and willingness to reside on-site at the farmExperience with agricultural technology and software is a plusHigh level of computer literacy with excellent Microsoft Office skillsDemonstrated leadership in team management, strong problem-solving and initiative, and clear communication with the Operations Manager / COO roles, among other stakeholdersHow To ApplyIf you are passionate about farming and have the skills to manage a diverse agricultural operation, please submit your application by 21st November 2025.
