Job Description

Catalyst Property Finance is a UK non-regulated bridging lender based on the South coast. As a Finance Assistant you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team, you’ll help maintain accurate records, support month-end processes, and ensure the smooth running of accounting and reporting functions that underpin the company’s lending activities.Personal responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Reconciliations·        Prepare and perform regular bank, client, and control account reconciliations.·        Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.Accounts Payable & Receivable·        Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and payments accurately.·        Issue customer invoices and credit notes in accordance with company policies.·        Manage debtor and creditor ledgers, ensuring balances are kept up to date.Prepayments & Accruals ·        Record prepayments and accruals accurately in line with monthly closing procedures.·        Maintain and reconcile schedules to support balance sheet accounts.Expenses Management·        Review and process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with company policies.·        Reconcile corporate card transactions and ensure timely submissions.Month-End Support·        Assist in preparing month-end journals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.·        Contribute to management reporting by providing accurate financial data.Financial Controls & Compliance·        Support the Financial Controller in maintaining internal controls and audit compliance.·        Assist in the annual year-end audit, compiling data for management review.·        Assist in ongoing loan book audits and compilation of supporting information.·        Ensure financial data integrity within accounting systems (Xero).Ad-Hoc Support·        Liaise with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations.·        Support process improvements and contribute to continuous efficiency initiatives.Experience required: ·        Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a lending, property finance or financial services environment (1-3 years desirable).·        Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage) and Excel/Google Sheets.·        Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.·        Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills.·        Good understanding of accounting principles and reconciliations.·        Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively.Salary - £28,000 - £32,000 per annumNon-salary benefits: 25 Days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays.Annual Leave increases by 1 day per full year up to a max of 30 Days (pro-rata).Ability to sell/buy up to 3 days annual leave once probation has been passedWorkplace pensionDeath in Service x 4 salaryPension salary sacrificeEmployee referral programmeCompany Christmas and summer partiesRegular company social eventsMindfulness sessions in the officeCompany paddleboardsThis job description is not exhaustive and may be subject to periodic review.By applying you are confirming that you are currently living in the UK and have right to work here.We reserve the right to close this job advert at any time should a suitable candidate be found.
