Summary of PositionAssist Project Managers (senior staff) in the execution and delivery of projects through the development of plans, assessment of impacts and provision of technical and design specific advice on traffic and transportation management for the clients.Complete necessary technical training and develop project technical skills as part of progression towards a transport engineer.DimensionsReports to the Principal Lead.Assists the relevant Project Manager on allocated tasks and/or projects.Consults with internal staff and external contractors / consultants.Position ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support to project managers and senior staff in the preparation of traffic and transport deliverables including (but not limited to) traffic/transport impact assessments, critical review and development of strategic plans and policies, network demand analysis, parking studies, sustainable transport planning, transport management, network performance assessment, and other tasks, as required.Assist project managers with project briefs through the preparation of scope of works and fee arrangements for work undertaken by Ason Group staff and/or requiring external suppliers (e.g. traffic surveys).Apply and support innovative traffic design and transport planning solutions (involving AutoCAD, ArcGIS / QGIS, Tableau, MS Excel, or similar capability).Provide technical support to on-site work, including field investigations.Assistance with Community Engagement, where required.As part of a structured and agreed training program, complete all necessary training (external courses and internal programs), and participate in required Career Development, including: Career Performance Review processUndertake other Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, through attendance at formal training course(s), internal workshops, industry seminars and private research.Undertake other Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, through attendance at formal training course(s), internal workshops, industry seminars and private research. With the assistance of the Principal Leads and Directors, identify opportunities to develop project management skills including (but not limited to):Client account management.Time and project budget management.Key project representative to external stakeholders.Invoicing duties.Essential Competencies and Individual Traits:A tertiary qualification in town planning / engineering or similar transport related area.Ability to work as part of a Team and act in a courteous and professional manner.Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.Working knowledge of latest transport management and planning practice, including road safety, Movement & Place / urban design fundamentals, data analytical and GIS tools. Experience with Austroads and other design guidelines (Australian Standards) desirable.Experience within local and state government organisations, and associated guidelines and legislative requirements.Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing and other forms of presentation. Experience applying traffic engineering and modelling outcomes to transportation problems
