While many of the challenges and opportunities we face go beyond national boundaries, together we have the scale, influence, and capability to deliver for our customers, communities, and our people.Job DescriptionOur Finance Team are responsible for producing the financial scorecard for Z, accounting for all cash in and out of Z, maintaining the accuracy of our financial records of our assets and paying our taxes.One of our team is off on their parental leave journey so we are looking for a new member of the team to join the Z whānau on a fixed term contract, starting late January 2026 for 14 months. This period includes handover and hand back.Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager our Financial Accountants deliver timely and accurate financial information. This role will see you ensure the integrity of financial statements, prepare full year accounts and provide commentary around this, and complete tax compliance activities including preparation of the income tax returns.If you are keen to join a skilled, diverse and passionate team and enjoy a broad scope of work we would love to kōrero!You will have the opportunity toManage the integrity of the general ledger including investigating balances and being able to perform corrective actionsDeliver timely and accurate financial information communicated outside the core finance teamPrepare full year accounts, including producing notes for the accounts for all Z Energy Group entitiesPrepare monthly performance reports including drafting commentaryGenerate an understanding of how Z operates and be able to apply this in reporting activitiesAssess accounting treatment and present recommendationsInvestigate queries and present back commentary around thesePrepare the annual income tax return, review of other tax returns, and support the Tax Manager with tax advisory and governance activitiesQualificationsWhat you’ll bring to ZChartered Accountant with 2-3 years’ experience post CAStrong financial accounting experience within large, complex corporate environmentsSolid understanding of accounting standards and NZ tax legislationThe ability to provide concise commentarySome experience in income tax, GST, FBT tax compliance activities would be idealGreat communication skills, this role will see you work across our businessA collaborative approach, the desire to be part of a high functioning teamExperience with JDE as our ERP system would be advantageous High capability with the Microsoft Suite, particularly ExcelAnd of course, you’ll be passionate about what matters to Z, embracing and living our values to help us deliver on our aspirations and broader commitment to Aotearoa New Zealand.Don’t meet every single requirement?
