You will be part of a team supporting our “Deliver 2030” transformative Programme which that includes Census, Monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) Measuring a Modern Economy (MME), and Integrated Data for Social Investment.Your responsibility will be to produce high-level and target-state data architecture designs, including fit-gap analyses across data platforms, systems, and integration layers.You will lead data technology selection and integration planning, ensuring that data strategies are aligned with business goals and consistent with Stats NZ’s ICT architecture guidance.You will provide technical leadership across multiple initiatives, bringing a strategic, enterprise-wide view of data architecture. This includes advising on data modelling, governance, quality, and interoperability to support sustainable and scalable data solutions.This Role Would Suit Someone Who Can BringDefine architecture standards, aligning data strategies with business goals, and providing technical leadership across multiple data initiatives.7+ years in Data Architecture with at least 3 years in a senior role.Deep knowledge of data platforms, cloud architectures, and modern data stacks.Experience in cloud data platforms (preferably Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark or comparative technologies) would be advantageous. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs.Provide governance and guidance on solution design, data modelling, integration, transformation and security.Contribute to the design discussions which will guide the development and integration of technologyA collaborative and mentoring approach, sharing technical knowledge across teams and supporting the growth of other architects through coaching and guidance. Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex architectural concepts into accessible information for diverse stakeholders.
