Senior Mechanical Estimator

GEDON Executive is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join a prominent Tier 2 Mechanical, Electrical, and Maintenance Contractor. This is a critical commercial role focused on securing high-value mechanical and multidisciplinary M&E projects across diverse sectors.As the Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed, competitive, and robust cost estimates from first principles, ensuring the profitability and strategic positioning of all tender submissions. Your expertise will be key to the success of the pre-construction team.Key ResponsibilitiesFirst Principles Estimating: Lead the preparation of detailed, bottom-up cost estimates for large-scale mechanical packages (e.g., HVAC, piping, public health, plant installations, process utilities) for M&E projects.Tender Management: Manage the entire estimating process from initial inquiry through to final tender adjudication and submission, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines.Supply Chain & Procurement: Issue detailed inquiries to the supply chain (subcontractors and specialist vendors), perform comprehensive quotation analysis, and negotiate pricing to ensure best value and technical compliance.Design & Value Engineering: Collaborate with the Design and Engineering teams to challenge and optimize technical solutions, identifying value engineering opportunities to enhance the competitiveness of the bid.Risk & Opportunity: Systematically identify, quantify, and report on all commercial and technical risks and opportunities associated with the mechanical scope of the tender.Reporting & Adjudication: Prepare clear, comprehensive cost breakdowns and confidently present the commercial position and strategy during senior management tender adjudication meetings.What You'll BringProven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Senior Estimator (or high-level Estimator) within a Mechanical or M&E contracting environment.Sector Expertise: Strong background in estimating complex Building Services, Process, or Industrial projects is highly advantageous.Technical Acumen: Deep technical understanding of mechanical systems and installations is essential for accurate first-principles costing.Commercial Skills: Exceptional analytical ability, meticulous attention to detail, and proven negotiation skills.Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in estimating software packages and advanced use of Microsoft Excel.Qualifications: A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.The GEDON AdvantageGEDON Executive is a global search firm specializing in the pre-construction sector.
