If you're a solutions-driven, passionate change-maker, come join us in positively impacting the lives of millions of people world-wide for a better future.The scope of IRC Libya’s protection and empowerment programming includes Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE, which includes gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response), child protection (CP), and Protection Rule of Law (PRoL, or broader humanitarian protection) for conflict-affected and other vulnerable women, girls, men, and boys. In the design and development of responsive, client-centered protection programming, the IRC works both directly and in partnership with local actors promoting women’s social and, increasingly, economic empowerment and an improved protection environment for conflict-affected and vulnerable women, girls, men, and boys. Through this work, the IRC has raised awareness among communities, provided training for service providers, and established spaces for a range of psychosocial support activities and access to case management for women, adolescent girls, and children in and around Tripoli, Misrata, Sebha, Brak and Alkufra. The IRC aims to build on that foundation with additional, targeted support to local capacities and community-based mechanisms.JOB OVERVIEW/SUMMARY: IRC Libya is seeking an Social Media Officer for the Signpost project that aims at providing contextualized timely, accurate and reliable information to migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in Libya and empowering them to make informed decisions on issues that matter most to them. Signpost is an innovative digital initiative providing a platform to reach refugees, asylum seekers and crisis-affected communities with accessible information. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Editorial Officer, the social media Officer will communicate directly with our users every day, replying to their comments, messages and questions.Key ResponsibilitiesReply to messages and comments received on Signpost social media channels with the help of the Editorial Officer and moderation guidelines.Engage users in conversations online.Feedback on (and translate into English/Arabic/French if required) representative and noteworthy comments and write an analysis of the day’s communications (including responses to posts, trends in conversation and information gaps).Share opinions, feedback, cultural awareness, contextual knowledge, and learning with the wider team on an ongoing basis.Follow protocol to escalate any communication from vulnerable cases to the protection team for assistance.Collaborate with Snr Editorial Officer, Social Media officers, Service Mapping Officers, Community liaison staff and volunteers to develop thorough, well-researched answers.Analyze information gaps amongst client populations to feed into future content creation.Keep up to date with all the new information on an ongoing basis and attend regular training courses as required.Attend the regular weekly and monthly team meetings and provide input regarding the achievements and challenges at project level.Undertake other tasks as requested by the line manager. Humanitarian experience with a CSO, NGO, or UN is preferred.A former experience with an international organization is desired.Previous experience with the Malomat or Signpost project (or similar digital information platforms) is a strong asset.Demonstrated Skills And CompetenciesStrong understanding of IRC Libya’s operational context and digital information management approaches.Proven ability to quickly adapt to evolving technology tools, including AI-integrated systems for information services.Familiarity with IRC information service standards, content review processes, and user-centered communication approaches.Strong computer proficiency and well acquainted with basic software tools - can navigate autonomously in Windows, Android, Skype, Microsoft Suite and Google docs. Knowledge of social media platforms and cultural use of these platforms.Excellent communication and writing skills.Experience working with refugees, migrants or displaced people in a voluntary or professional capacity.An understanding of the power and importance of accurate information and the ability to exercise strong judgement in ensuring all answers are accurate.An excellent level of English and/or French.An understanding of the subtlety of language and an ability to apply communication guidelines in written responses.Respect for people of all walks of life.A team player.Language SkillsAdvanced English and Arabic language skills, oral and written.
