Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling Yolŋu powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards. With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.Essential RequirementsWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual with a strong understanding and commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and self-determination, particularly in relation to the challenges faced by Yolngu people in remote communities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in the SEWB or community services sector, along with a Diploma in Community Services or equivalent relevant experience. You will be skilled in delivering trauma-informed, person-centred, and strength-based support, including brief interventions and client advocacy. Strong communication, problem-solving, and time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and facilitate community-based programs focused on mental health, suicide prevention, and capacity building. This role requires regular travel to remote communities by light aircraft (up to five days at a time), and a current NT Ochre Card (Working with Children’s Check) is mandatory.Vaccination & Immunity ScreeningMiwatj Health is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all workers and users of its healthcare centres.
