Australian Open badminton: Shetty, Lakshya in quarters, Prannoy exits

Young shuttler Ayush Shetty and former world championships bronze medallist Lakshya Sen advanced in the Australian Open in contrasting fashion to set up an all-Indian quarterfinal clash, while senior pros HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth made early exits here on Thursday. The top-seeded Indian men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty too made it to the last-eight with an easy 21-18, 21-11 victory against Chinese-Taipei's Su Ching Heng and Wu Guan Xun in 37 minutes. The Satwik-Chirag pair will take on the fifth-seeded Indonesian pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri in the quarterfinals. Shetty, winner of the Yonex US Open Super 300 tournament earlier this year, defeated fourth-seeded Kodai Naraoka 21-17, 21-16 in a contest lasting 68 minutes. This was the 20-year-old's second win over the world No.9 Japanese this year as he set up a showdown with the seventh-seeded Sen, who overcame Chinese-Taipei's Chi Yu Jen 21-17, 13-21, 21-13 in a contest that lasted 63 minutes. However, Prannoy, who has not advanced beyond the pre-quarterfinals this year, could not keep up with eighth seed and former junior world champion Indonesian Farhan Alwi, losing 19-21, 10-21 in 42 minutes in the USD 475,000 Super 500 event. On Wednesday, the 33-year-old Prannoy, an Asian Games bronze-medallist and a 2023 World Championships bronze winner, had been stretched by world No. 85 Yohanes Saut Marcellyno before the Indian won 6-21, 21-12, 21-17 against the lower-ranked player. Veteran Srikanth, whose best this year has been a second-place finish at the Malaysia Masters, lost to Shogo Ogawa of Japan 20-22, 16-21 in 43 minutes. Shetty, who had beaten Naraoka in the Hong Kong Open this year, was given a tough fight by the higher-ranked Japanese as the lead kept changing hands before the Indian, who was leading 18-17, took the last three points to win the opening game. The second game was clearly one-sided despite the Japanese keeping pace with Shetty till 14-all before the Indian raised his game a few notches to win five straight points to lead 19-14 and finally close out the match. Sen took sweet revenge for his round-of-32 loss to Chi Yu Jen, who had defeated the Indian at the Malaysia Open earlier this year. Sen led from start to finish in the opening game, leading 14-4 at one point before the Chinese-Taipei opponent rallied from 10-20 to 17-20, notching up seven straight points. The second game saw the resurgent Yu Jen take the match to the decider where Sen again notched up seven consecutive points from 7-7 to make it a one-sided final game.

After Trump Documentary, BBC Under Fire Over Discredited Diana Interview

The BBC came under fire again Thursday in a new book about its bombshell interview with the late Princess Diana, 30 years after it was aired.A record 22.8 million people watched the interview on November 20, 1995, in which Diana famously admitted adultery and said there had been "three people" in her marriage -- her, Charles and his long-time mistress Camilla Parker Bowles. The programme was seen as a journalistic coup for reporter Martin Bashir and the BBC at the time but later unravelled when it emerged the journalist had faked documents to secure the interview."Dianarama: The Betrayal of Princess Diana" was released on Thursday in the UK.Penguin Books said the book by former BBC journalist Andy Webb revealed the "true extent of the deception the princess experienced as well as the cover-up which ensued".To secure the interview, Bashir showed Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, faked bank statements. These were intended to show that some of those closest to Diana were spying on her.'Life In Danger' Diana was "assured" by Bashir that "her life was in danger", Webb told the Good Morning Britain programme on the BBC's commercial competitor ITV.Although the depth of Bashir's subterfuge only became clear years later, Webb said the BBC realised he had done "three bad things" only four months after broadcast. He said they discovered he had faked the documents, shown them to Spencer and then lied about it when challenged by the BBC.The publication of the book comes after the BBC's director general announced his resignation following a damaging row over misleading editing of a documentary about Donald Trump. The BBC paid damages to Diana's former private secretary Patrick Jephson over the 1995 interview and a graphic designer who blew the whistle on the underhand methods used.'Lethal' Interview Webb said Diana's brother traced a line between what happened after the interview and her death less than two years later in a car crash in Paris."Diana pushed away the people around her, in particular her (private) secretary, Patrick Jephson," he said."She'd been told that her chauffeur was a spy. She has no confidence in the police's official security, so she ends up 18 months later in a Mercedes with a drunk driver."And Charles (Spencer) ends by saying that yes, frankly, the consequences of the interview were lethal," he added.Diana -- mother of heir to the throne Prince William and his estranged brother Harry -- was 36 when she died in a high-speed crash in Paris in August 1997 while being chased by the paparazzi. Bashir later apologised for his conduct but maintained it had "no bearing whatsoever on the personal choice by Princess Diana to take part in the interview".An independent report commissioned by the BBC and published in 2021 lifted the lid on the deceptive methods that Bashir used.A BBC spokesperson said it had accepted the findings of that report "in full and publicly apologised".Diana and Charles formally divorced in 1996. Charles, now King Charles III, and Camilla married in 2005. (Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed.)

Food Regulator Orders Removal Of Any Products Misleadingly Labelled 'ORS'

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issued an order on Wednesday directing the immediate removal of fruit-based beverages, ready-to-serve drinks, energy drinks, electrolyte drinks and similar products that use the term "ORS" in their brand names or product names.FSSAI stated that these products are being sold in retail stores and on e-commerce platforms, even though earlier orders had already withdrawn permission to use the term "ORS" for such drinks.FSSAI referred to its previous orders from October 14 and the clarification issued on October 15, which said that no food product, whether fruit-based, non-carbonated or ready-to-drink, can use the term "ORS" in the trademarked name or in any form, including as a prefix or suffix. Using the term in this way violates the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Despite these directions, FSSAI noted that many such products continue to be sold under names that include "ORS".To stop this, FSSAI has instructed officers to carry out immediate inspections on e-commerce platforms and retail outlets to identify food products that violate the orders by using the term "ORS". If found, these products must be removed from sale, and regulatory action must be taken against the companies involved. Officers must also send a detailed action taken report to FSSAI, listing inspections, violations, and the status of product removal. The authority instructed all officers to make sure there is no interference in the storage, distribution or sale of WHO-recommended ORS drug products.Enforcement activities must only target non-compliant food products that are falsely using the term "ORS".Earlier on October 31, the Delhi High Court said it would not interfere with the decision of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) prohibiting the use of the term "ORS" on beverages, observing that counterfeit or misleading ORS-labelled products pose a serious risk to public health. The Bench noted that public health must take precedence over commercial considerations and clarified that a detailed judgment will follow. The observation was made while hearing a petition filed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, which had challenged the FSSAI's notification barring the manufacture and sale of drinks bearing the expression "ORS" (Oral Rehydration Solution) in their brand names or trademarks. The FSSAI had earlier stated that the term "ORS " can only be used for formulations meeting World Health Organisation (WHO) standards for oral rehydration solutions.(Except for the headline, this story has not been edited by NDTV staff and is published from a syndicated feed.)

This underscores our shared commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our citizens," the Embassy said.Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother and close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was detained by US authorities before being deported to India on Wednesday. The NIA arrested Anmol Bishnoi on his deportation from the US to India, according to an official statement. The agency mentioned that Anmol, deported from the US, had been on the run since 2022, and is the 19th accused to be arrested for his alleged involvement in the terror syndicate led by Lawrence.Anmol Bishnoi is also wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in October last year as well as the shooting incident that occurred outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence earlier this year. His name also surfaced in the murder of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.According to the NIA, Anmol was chargsheeted in March 2023 after investigations "established that he had actively aided designated individual terrorist Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in the commission of various acts of terrorism in the country during the 2020-2023 period."NIA mentions that Anmol Bishnoi is operating closely with various Bishnoi gang associates, and he "continued to run terror syndicates and execute terrorist acts from the US for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.""Investigations revealed that Anmol Bishnoi had provided shelter and logistic support to the gang's shooters and ground operatives. He was also engaged in extortion in India from foreign soil with the help of other gangsters," the statement read.Earlier this year, the NIA had announced a bounty of Rs 10 lakh, leading to the arrest of Bishnoi. Inbound tourism growth not to exceed 3%-4% in 2025 - Russian Union of Travel Industry

20 Nov 2025 18:37 Inbound tourism growth not to exceed 3%-4% in 2025 - Russian Union of Travel Industry MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - The growth of inbound tourism will not exceed 3%-4% in 2025, which is twice less than in 2024, Sergei Romashkin, general director of the Delfin tour operator and Russian Union of Travel Industry expert, said. "Inbound tourism is in a long-term growth phase. We see a lot of projects, primarily infrastructure ones, which will produce an effect in a couple of years and probably even this year or in the coming 2026. But growth is slowing down. And we believe that it will not exceed 3%-4% this year. It's twice less than last year, when it was 10%. And my forecast for next year is a further slowdown," he said at the 21st congress of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, held in Moscow on Thursday. "We need to say here that we still don't have reliable, quality statistics. But we know objectively that RZD long-distance transportation has dropped 0.5%, and domestic flights in Russia have dropped 3.8%, almost four percent. And still it's a big share of the market, if railroad and air transportation declines, these are certain symptoms," Romashkin said. The key factors that contributed to the slowdown of inbound tourism are the general slowdown of the consumer market and Russians cutting back on major expenses to save money. "The second reason is high vacation prices. I have analyzed our statistics for 2022. The prices increased by some 50%-55% over the past three years. Obviously, incomes did not increase accordingly in that period. There is a gap between our tourists' capabilities and high vacation prices, and this gap continues increasing. Plus, the strong ruble made travelling abroad cheaper. The ruble gained 20%-22% over a year," Romashkin said. A certain role in the reduction of inbound tourism was played by the crisis in Anapa and flight problems, he said. The Russian Union of Travel Industry needs to keep working to reduce the fiscal burden on businesses and to reduce the tourist tax on hotels as its further increase will reduce hotel occupancy, he said. Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said earlier at the congress that 69 million tourist trips had been made in Russia over nine months, which is a five percent increase from last year. Tourism in Russia is now growing at a "more reserved rate," he said.

As the community works to rebuild from the devastation left by the category five storm that slammed into the south-western end of the island on October 28, the residents have sounded the alarm on what they described as the widespread mental health challenges that now linger. “We need counselling, because…this morning I was picking up some stuff and that is when I started to feel a way. To see what I had and now I cannot find it, not even my ID I can find. Right now I must have [high blood] pressure [hypertension] because my eyes are weak, my body is weak and I am feeling dizzy,” said Petulia Evans, a resident of Parottee. Noting that neighbours are visibly traumatised, she shared, “I have a friend, she took off weight because she is traumatised. Some people a look out a space [and] a talk to themselves. Even my mother, she sits down every day and just talk to herself.” Fisherman Ronnie Bennett echoed the call, explaining that although relief workers have provided food and water, mental health needs remain unmet. “One of the main thing affecting the area right now is mental health. A lot of persons need counselling — people have lost about everything. If you talk to persons and they are telling you what they have lost you would see them start crying because some don’t know when and where to start. Their livelihoods have been deteriorated, people are talking to themselves,” he said. Bennett, who lives a mile from the sea, described how waves pushed seawater into his home, destroying his property and livelihood. “I lost two engines, a car and my boat that went over the mangrove. A lot of furniture in the house gone far over in the mangrove. As you can see over the seaside is hard, a lot of things got mixed up with other people stuff and a lot of them are no longer good,” he said. Authorities have repeatedly warned that the psychological impact of Melissa will linger long after the storm. On November 6, Minister of Health and Wellness Dr Christopher Tufton announced that his ministry expects worsening mental trauma among victims. At that time, Tufton said his team would be partnering with an expert from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) to address the issue. He added that the ministry would be deploying field officers to identify communities in need of psychosocial support. The Jamaica Psychiatric Association and the Jamaica Psychological Society have also joined forces to volunteer assistance in the hardest-hit areas. Consultant psychiatrist Dr Saphire Longmore told Observer Online that many Jamaicans are grieving various losses, not only lives, but homes, livelihoods and their sense of security. “There is loss and grief at most levels in the communities that are significantly affected,” said Dr Longmore, a former president of the Jamaica Psychological Society. “The natural stages of grief are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance and people will go through these stages. Sometimes it flows as it describes them or they might go through them conjunctively or some may skip a stage and then revert,” she explained. Wax Princess Diana In ‘Revenge Dress’ Is Unveiled In Paris Decades After Her Death In The City

PARIS (AP) — Princess Diana returned to Paris in wax Thursday as one of Europe’s oldest wax museums unveiled a new figure of the British royal in the so-called “revenge dress,” decades after her tragic death in the city. The statue was ordered in Paris after the director of the Grevin Museum visited London and came away underwhelmed by the Diana likeness at Madame Tussauds, prompting him to commission his own version, museum officials said. Grevin’s life-size — and very convincing — figure of the late Princess of Wales is dressed in a replica of the black, off-the-shoulder, figure-hugging cocktail dress Diana wore to a Serpentine Gallery event in London in 1994. It was the same night that King Charles III — at the time Prince Charles — acknowledged on television that he had been unfaithful with Camilla Parker Bowles, now Queen Camilla. For Paris, the tribute carried extra weight: Diana — “Lady Di” to the French, who still use the nickname affectionately even though she spent most of her public life as a princess — died after a car crash in a tunnel by the Seine in 1997, a death that helped immortalize her in the Parisian imagination, where she still remains present in the flowers and handwritten notes left at informal memorials. Museum officials noted that the unveiling came on the 30th anniversary of an explosive interview that Diana gave to BBC “Panorama,” which observers say dented the standing of the monarchy and the Queen. Some observers noted wryly how the museum’s newest royal guest was positioned far from wax likenesses of her famous ex-husband and mother-in-law. High heels, a pearl choker at her neck and a small handbag clasped in both hands completed the sculpture. Tabloids later dubbed the outfit the “revenge dress,” and the museum leaned into that symbolism. French novelist Christine Orban, who wrote “Mademoiselle Spencer,” a novel imagined from Diana’s point of view, said the figure was overdue. She called the black dress a turning point in Diana’s story. “The dress is very significant of her liberation because in the royal family, black is only worn for funerals, and then such a sexy dress for a Princess of Wales, well, that’s not common either,” she said. “So she decides to wear her high heels and Louboutins. And to go to the Serpentine Gallery to make an impression, to get photographed.” Grevin, founded in the 19th century, has long packed its ornate halls with political leaders, artists, pop-culture figures — and, yes, British royals. Diana is the latest in a steady stream of star wattage additions the museum uses to refresh the collection and boost visitors at the site that has attracted some 700,000 annual visitors in recent years. News of the unveiling filtered through Paris, even before most people had a chance to visit. “It brought back that night in the tunnel, even though I was a kid then,” said Julien Martin, 38. “Paris never completely let go of Diana, so it made sense that a big wax museum finally did this.” “I wasn’t even alive but for my generation, she seems like the first modern princess — glamorous, but also vulnerable,” said 24-year-old student Lina Ben Amar. “If tourists come to see celebrities in wax, she is one of the first they will look for.” Diana will be in good company. Curators set her beside another prominent royal who died in Paris — albeit centuries earlier: Marie Antoinette.

Trump Says Allowing Skilled Immigrants to Train US Workers 'is MAGA'

Washington: President Donald Trump has made hardline immigration policies a signature issue, but acknowledged on Wednesday that he's been criticized for recently saying some skilled immigrants should be allowed into the country from his “Make America Great Again” supporters. Trump told an audience of business executives that the U.S. needs immigrants who can train domestic workers in high-tech factories — and insisted that doing so is not inconsistent with his core political beliefs. “I love my conservative friends. I love MAGA. But this is MAGA,” Trump said during an address to the U.S.-Saudi Investment Forum, which he attended with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman . “Those people are going to teach our people how to make computer chips, and in a short period of time, our people are going to be doing great. And those people can go home.” The comments drew applause in the room. But last week, Trump sparred with Fox News host Laura Ingraham over the same issue. Ingraham suggested during an interview with Trump that “you can’t flood the country with tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, of foreign workers,” only to have the president respond, “You also do have to bring in talent.” When Ingraham said that the U.S. had “plenty of talented people here,” Trump said, “No, you don't,” and added that “people have to learn.” The exchange drew swift and sharp online criticism from some corners of the MAGA movement, who have opposed expanding H-1B visas , and other programs designed to let skilled immigrants into the country. That didn't stop Trump from doubling down on Wednesday, adding that his detractors are “really, really smart” despite their opposition to skilled immigration. “They’re unbelievable patriots,” Trump said. “But they just don’t understand our people need to be taught.” Trump said that when it comes to “extremely complex” domestic plants making things like computers, cell phones and missiles, it wasn't possible to “think you can hire people off an unemployment line to run it.” Foreign owners building the plants in the U.S. are “going to have to bring thousands of people with them, and I’m going to welcome those people,” Trump said. As evidence, the president pointed to the case of hundreds of South Korean nationals who were detained and left the U.S. following a September immigration raid at Hyundai’s electric vehicle manufacturing site in Georgia. Some have now returned and are back at their jobs. Trump said the workers had been ordered to “get out,” but that “I said, ‘Stop it. Don’t be stupid.’”

Neighbouring homes evacuated after explosive device found in Prince George search

Several residences were evacuated after an explosive device was found during a police search warrant in Prince George, today, Nov. 19. According to Prince George RCMP, the device was located during the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a house on the 1600-block of Eighth Avenue. Police say the Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) from the Lower Mainland has been advised of the situation and is on the way to assist local police in disposing the device. “Police officers have left the residence and are on sight keeping the area secure until EDU can attend,” Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for PG RCMP, said in the release. “Out of an abundance of caution for residents in that neighbourhood, investigators have evacuated the nearby houses.” Residents can expect police to remain on scene until the explosive device has been safely dealt with. Mounties say the investigation remains ongoing and will resume when the residence is deemed safe for officers to re-enter.

Department of Social Protection 'Negative' coverage of hot meals programme has led to hundreds of schools not opting in An Oireachtas Committee was told by officials that there needs to be an effort to get the message out there that nutritional standards have improved within the scheme. 12.24pm, 20 Nov 2025 Share options HUNDREDS OF SCHOOLS across the country have opted not to participate in the Government’s Hot School Meals programme, an Oireachtas committee has heard. Simon Shevlin, Chairperson of the group steering the programme, told politicians that negative coverage of the previous standards of the food on offer may have played a role in putting schools off from participating. Initially he said that schools didn’t sign up in most cases “due to a lack of demand amongst parents”. Sinn Féin Senator Pauline Tully raised questions about how the department could know that there are not children with a need for hot school meals in those schools that didn’t sign up. “I taught in a secondary school, we were a DEIS school. I remember talking to a first year on a Monday, and asking her why she wasn’t having lunch, and she said she hadn’t eaten since 5 pm the previous day, I went straight to the home school liaison and made sure she was on the list to get a meal. “That arose from a conversation, so I’m just wondering how we are ensuring that children in those schools who really need this are getting it?” she asked. “We’ve contacted most of those schools and most of them are applying. I think under 120 have changed their minds. “I think it’s about giving a positive message as to the nutritional value, because we have heard a lot of negative social media pieces regarding the standard of school meals, we need to get the message out that we have a dietitian involved now in ensuring the nutritional standards are good. “It’s about tackling negative news about the standards so we get all those schools on board,” Shevlin said. Advertisement TD Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh raised the point that some children have dietary needs that mean that they prefer plain foods, and that now due to the change in standards some of those foods may not be on offer. “So out of my two children, one child would have dietary issues, let’s say, and one would eat anything. So one of them is getting the meals. One of them has opted out… they removed high salt, high sugar and saturated fats and I’m delighted for my daughter who is getting these healthy meals, but there are children who we would just like to ensure that they can eat a meal,” she said. Ní Raghallaigh added that a lot of children in her child’s class just ordered plain pasta, and that previously her son’s class had pizza and goujons on a Friday, which he enjoyed, but since its been done away with he’s “excluded completely”. Fiona Ward, a dietitian who is a member of the interdepartmental working group on hot school meals, said: “The whole purpose of the school meal programme is not to leave anybody behind and that everybody gets an even playing field. That will take some time but we need the evidence there as part of that.” Ward added that the scheme will be reviewed at the end of the year with a specific look at portion sizes and food wastage. Shevlin said that around 3200 schools and 550,000 children will be eligible for hot school meals in 2025, as the Government has committed €300 m to the project. He said that its the responsibility of each school to administer the programme locally, and that the main relationship is between the supplier and the school, with the Department of Social Protection providing the funding. Shevlin said that applications for the 2025/26 academic year “continue to be processed”. This is the first year that all schools are eligible for the programme, and a dietitian has been brought in to oversee the removal of foods that are high in salt, sugar, and saturated fat from the menus schools are offering. The committee also heard that 112 schools have been impacted by the withdrawal of two suppliers from the programme that have the same CEO. Meals on Wheels services have been providing hot school meals to 11 of those schools in rural areas. Readers like you are keeping these stories free for everyone... The hit show Friends ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004, starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and the late Matthew Perry. LeBlanc played Joey Tribbiani and after the Friends finale, he signed on for a spin-off series titled ‘Joey’ that premiered on NBC in September 2004. Joey followed LeBlanc’s character from New York to Los Angeles, where the character was pursuing an acting career. The first episode of Joey was well-watched, but viewing figures decreased thereafter. Advertisement NBC cancelled the series due to low ratings less than two years later and decided not to broadcast the final eight episodes of the second series. Kevin S. Bright was one of the executive producers of both Friends and Joey and remarked that in the spin-off, the character of Joey was transformed from a “solid friend and a guy you knew you could count on” to a “pathetic, mopey character”. “Joey was deconstructed to be a guy who couldn’t get a job, couldn’t ask a girl out,” said Bright. “I felt he was moving in the wrong direction, but I was not heard.” But almost 20 years later, the final eight unaired episodes are now available to watch on the Friends YouTube channel. The Friend YouTube channel began posting full episodes of Joey in March and three weeks ago, it aired the first of eight never-before-seen episodes from after the show was cancelled. The final two unaired episodes were uploaded to YouTube yesterday. While these eight episodes remained unaired by NBC in the US, they were broadcast on some other networks internationally.

Sandra Barry, 40, Tor an Rí, Balgaddy, Co Lucan, appeared at Dublin District Court following an investigation by the Garda Special Detective Unit (SDU). She is charged that on 30 August, 2025, at her home address, she sent “a threatening or grossly offensive communication to Simon Harris with intent to cause harm”. The offence is contrary to section 4(1) and (3) of the 2020 Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act. The Minister for Finance was not required to attend the hearing. Detective Garda Richard Markey told Judge Michele Finan that Ms Barry was arrested by warrant and charged at Store Street Garda station at 9.03 am today. The court heard she had no reply when charged and was handed a copy of the charge sheet. The Director of Public Prosecutions directed summary disposal of the case in the District Court rather than in the Circuit Court, which has wider sentencing powers. Outlining the facts for a jurisdiction ruling, Detective Garda Markey stated: “It is alleged that the accused sent a number of threatening messages to the injured party in this case.” The detective maintained that the woman was identified through social media. Advertisement Asked for more details, the detective replied that the messages were of a threatening nature toward the injured party, threatening violence on him or his family. He added that they were not explicit but were implied threats “Such as?” asked Judge Finan. “Such as, something along the lines of, ‘wouldn’t it be terrible if something had happened to your family, like what happened in an incident involving a minor who was attacked’.” The court heard there were two messages, but metadata showed up to six, and it took place over one evening. Judge Finan accepted jurisdiction for the case to remain in the District Court and ordered Ms Barry, who has yet to enter a plea, to appear again on December 18. Judge Finan noted that there was no objection to cashless bail, subject to the imposition of conditions sought by the detective. Defence solicitor Tracy Horan informed Judge Finan that there was consent to the terms. She ordered the woman, who did not address the court, to sign on once weekly at her local garda station, and to have no direct or indirect contact, including via social media, with the injured party. Judge Finan warned her that she risked bail revocation and being remanded in custody if she breached the terms. Legal aid was granted after Ms Horan furnished the court with a statement of Ms Barry’s means. The solicitor said her client was working in minimum wage as an equine hand.
