The complete Frieda River Project represents a nation building opportunity for Papua New Guinea and a transformative sustainable development opportunity for the Sepik region. The Project will help build stronger and more viable communities by establishing necessary public infrastructure, generating skilled employment, and creating business opportunities for local people.In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust’s two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.In Chile, PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S. A.The RoleWe are currently recruiting for experienced team members to join us on a Fixed-Term basis to support our Drill Program.We are looking for an experienced Field Operation Supervisor, based at the Frieda River Project Site. Reporting to Senior Geologist, the role will be responsible for the direct, day-to-day leadership of the pad clearing crews to ensure all drill pads and access tracks are constructed safely, on schedule, and to the required quality and environmental standards.Key Responsibilities include:Supervision & Team LeadershipLead, mentor, and supervise the two local pad clearing crews.Provide clear daily work plans and instructions in a culturally appropriate manner.Conduct on-the-job training for team members in safe and effective construction techniques.Pad Construction & Quality ControlOversee all construction activities, including vegetation clearing, earthworks, and drainage installation.Liaise with the Geology team to ensure all pads are constructed at the correct location and to the specified design.Conduct final quality inspections on all completed pads to ensure they are fit-for-purpose before handover to the drilling team.Planning & Logistics CoordinationCoordinate with the helicopter team to ensure the safe and efficient transport of personnel and equipment.Liaise with the Logistics Coordinator to ensure the timely delivery of all necessary tools, fuel, and consumables.Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)Champion a culture of safety within the pad clearing teams, always leading by example.Lead daily pre-start meetings and ensure formal risk assessments (JSAs) are completed for all construction tasks.Enforce compliance with all project safety standards, including PanAust’s Cardinal Rules.To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who:More than 5 years' experience in a hands-on supervisory role for civil, earthworks, or forestry operations.Demonstrated experience working in remote, logistically challenging environments.Proven ability to lead, train, and mentor a local workforce in a cross-cultural setting.Strong practical skills in small-scale earthworks, drainage control, and chainsaw operation/safety.Experience working safely with and around helicopters, including knowledge of slinging operations and landing zone management.Current First Aid certificate.Must be physically fit and able to work in remote bush conditions.Must report for work fit for duty and comply with all company fitness-for-work policies.Why Join Us?Our Values: Our core values of Care, Leadership, Integrity and Performance and represent the foundations of our great culture.Remuneration: We offer a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.Meaningful Work: The work we do is valuable and connects all of our employees through a shared vision and our values.Sustainability: We actively focus on our environmental footprint and build upon community development initiatives in communities where we operate.PanAust is focussed on building a workforce that embraces diversity and inclusion, aiming to create an environment that brings us all together through connection, security and community and harnessing what makes us unique.
