Business Analyst (S/4HANA Finance)

Our government client is delivering a major finance systems upgrade and is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support the transition from their legacy SAP environment to a new S/4HANA platform. Working across finance, ICT, and program delivery teams, you will help shape future-state processes, define business needs, and ensure the upgraded solution meets the operational, compliance, and reporting requirements of the department.You will work closely with finance stakeholders to understand how current processes operate, identify gaps and improvement opportunities, and guide the design of new capabilities enabled through the upgraded system. You will also play a key role across documentation, testing, data readiness, and change impacts to ensure the department is prepared for go-live and beyond.Initial contract until the end of June 2026.Based in the Brisbane CBD with 50% WFH.Hourly pay up to $119.80 incl. superannuation.ResponsibilitiesEngage with finance stakeholders to understand business processes, requirements, and the impacts of the system upgrade.Map current processes and support the design of future-state workflows and improvements enabled by S/4HANA.Contribute to analysis activities across configuration, data, reporting, and end-to-end process changes.Support data migration activities, including validation, reconciliation, and coordination with ICT and business teams.Produce clear documentation such as process models, requirements summaries, and functional specifications.Participate in design reviews, walkthroughs, and solution discussions to ensure business needs are accurately represented.Plan and coordinate user testing activities, support defect triage, and ensure outcomes are captured and actioned.Assist with change readiness by helping prepare training materials, guides, and communications for finance teams.The successful candidate will bring proven experience supporting large and complex finance or SAP transformation initiatives, and strong capability in analysing financial processes such as budgeting, reporting, asset management, and accounts payable/receivable.Submissions for this role will close on Monday, 01 December at 12:00pm.For more information, contact Michael Tran on 0468 058 334 or email michael@retained.com.au.
